Superman Prequel KRYPTON Gets An Official Series Order From Syfy; First Look Photo Released

It looks like that recent trailer leak may have worked out extremely well for DC Comics' Krypton TV show, as Syfy has now officially picked up the Superman prequel to series. Come take a look!

Get ready to trek back to Superman's homeworld this fall, as Syfy has officially ordered Krypton to series as part of their massive new initiative to expand its original programming lineup.

The series follows Kal-El's grandfather Seg-El, played by newcomer Cameron Cuffe, in his youth as he attempts to restore the House of El's good name while also saving his planet from erupting into a maddening chaos. Georgina Campbell
Ian McElhinneyElliot Cowan, Ann Ogbomo, Rasmus Hardiker, Wallis Day, and Aaron Pierre will feature in supporting roles.

Further details weren't provided, but a 10- or 13-episode first season is likely in the cards.

The network also released a promotional still, featuring a first look at the characters played by Cuffe, Campbell, and Hardiker. Check it out below:



Set two generations before Superman ever heads to Earth, Krypton follows Kal-El’s grandfather (played by Cameron Cuffe) — whose House of El was ostracized and shamed — as he fights to redeem his family’s honor and save his beloved world from chaos. The series comes from producers David Goyer (the Dark Knight trilogy) and Damian Kindler (Sleepy Hollow). Along with Cuffe, the show stars Georgina Campbell (Broadchurch), Elliot Cowan (Da Vinci’s Demons), Ann Ogbomo (World War Z), Rasmus Hardiker (Your Highness), Wallis Day (Will), Aaron Pierre (Tennison) and Ian McElhinney (Game of Thrones).

@SuperCat - lol it's a sharknado prequel. It explains how Superman is related to the killer sharks. Who is actually King Sharks older Cousin.

I predict one season for this. As far as needless prequels go, this one takes the cake.

@nikgrid - But Gotham at least has Bruce in it, and that's a justification for it. Bruce's younger years haven't really been explored on television, even if Gotham puts the focus on other things as well.

Like, I could accept this show if it focused on Jor-El, but Kal-El's grandfather? It just seems like stretching it for the purpose of having a Superman-related show.
