ELSEWORLDS: All The Biggest Moments And Spoilers From SUPERGIRL's Final Chapter Of The Crossover

Last night was the final part of this year's "Elseworlds" crossover but how did the story wrap up and in what ways did it set the stage for whatever comes next? Well, you can find the answers right here...

Last night, The CW's three-night Arrowverse crossover, "Elseworlds", came to a close and while it was a pretty solid finale, it's what it teased for the future that will really get fans excited.

Yes, "Crisis on Infinite Earths" is next for these heroes and while we didn't think that would happen until 2024, it appears as if the network isn't going to waste any time in bringing that storyline to the small screen...and possibly even killing off Barry Allen!

What you'll find here is a look at not only what comes next, but all the biggest moments from yesterday evening's episode of Supergirl. There were definitely some big surprises, too.

So, to take a look, all you guys have to do is hit the "View List" button down below.

John Deegan Is The New Superman

If you were wondering what the deal is with the Superman wearing a black suit, this episode wastes no time in revealing that it's not an evil Clark Kent; instead, John Deegan has transformed himself into the Man of Steel!

He's desperately trying to play the hero and Barry Allen and Oliver Queen manage to outsmart him by destroying a crane and making him decide whether to stop them or save the kids below (which obviously plays to his ego and newfound belief that he's a superhero). Even so, doing that leaves the Fastest Man Alive feeling sick to his stomach.

A Whole New Reality

The world has changed significantly since Deegan rewrote reality again as Kara Danvers is being kept a prisoner in S.T.A.R. Labs and Alex Danvers, John Diggle, and Killer Frost are all now minions for "Superman." Cisco, meanwhile, is a crime boss and James Olsen is one of his hired guns.

Many of these changes (especially the ones from Supergirl) feel forced as it just seems almost too coincidental that their Earth-1 counterparts would end up taking on these roles. In many ways, it feels like this finale doesn't think big enough...or the budget started running low!

Superman Vs. Superman

In one of the coolest things The CW has done to date, we get to see the Earth-38 version of Superman take on Deegan's Man of Steel in an impressive fight sequence which doesn't last anywhere near as long enough as it probably should have. It's fun while it lasts and it would be crazy for the network to walk away from this crossover unaware of how much fans want a Superman TV show.

Slowing Down Time

In a bid to stop Deegan once and for all, the Flash and Supergirl hatch a plan to slow down time by racing around the world in opposite directions at Mach-7. You don't need us to tell you which comic book and movie this is a reference to and both heroes are very nearly destroyed by the sheer amount of effort this takes. That probably doesn't bode well for what comes next, of course...

The Monitor May Not Be A Bad Guy

While his methods are definitely questionable (he destroyed Earth-90 and countless other realities), The Monitor doesn't appear to be a full-on villain and is instead just trying to prepare Earth-1's heroes for an upcoming "Crisis."

When Green Arrow pleads for the life of Barry and Kara, The Monitor, realising that they're his best hope, gives him a weapon which can stop Deegan and it seems as if we can expect to see much more of him moving forward.

After all, he' essentially recruited these heroes to help him take down the Anti-Monitor now and that battle is bound to have major ramifications for the Arrowverse which we'll touch on a little later in the breakdown of the finale.

Returning To Argo

Those of you hoping to see more of Superman in Supergirl may be disappointed to learn that the Man of Steel has decided to return to Argo with Lois Lane as she's pregnant and that's the safest place for her. That means Earth is now under Kara's protection but as disappointing as this may be, you have to believe that the hero will return to Metropolis in time for next year's Arrowverse event.

A Super Proposal

After returning to the Fortress of Solitude, a distracted Superman burns his and Lois' dinner on the barbeque and them picks up a piece of coal and crushes it in his hand to turn it into, you guessed it, a diamond! He then proposes to his longtime girlfriend and she obviously accepts and it's once again hard to believe that The CW isn't planning a spinoff featuring these two hugely popular characters.

Batwoman Returns

With Deegan defeated and left hideously scarred, he's sent to Arkham Asylum. Superman and Supergirl are back on Earth-38 (which is where the aforementioned reveals take place) and Oliver and Barry celebrate their victory in a bar and reflect on being each other.

It's then that the Green Arrow receives a phone call from Batwoman and she doesn't seem happy. It turns out that since being sent to Arkham, Deegan has made an unexpected new ally...

Psycho Pirate Knows What's Coming

We caught a glimpse of Psycho Pirate in Arrow the other night but it seems as if he'll play a huge role in the next Arrowverse event because he tells Deegan the following:

"Don't worry, doctor. Everything is as it should be. The stage is set. Worlds will live...worlds will die. And the universe will never be the same!"

The newspaper from 2024 has already confirmed that Psycho Pirate is the only one who remembers what the world used to be like before reality was changed and the Flash disappeared and comic book fans will be well aware of the role he played in Crisis on Infinite Earths

Crisis On Infinite Earths

It's not supposed to happen until 2024 but Supergirl ended with confirmation that Crisis on Infinite Earths is the next Arrowverse event. This feels like a storyline which should play out over more than three or four nights and common sense says that while The CW probably won't actually kill Barry off (thereby changing his future), they will use this to merge the worlds of The Flash and Supergirl.

After all, it no longer really makes sense for Supergirl to live in a separate world to the other heroes and it would certainly simplify things and even serve as a reboot of sorts for a show like Arrow which could do with a fresh lick of paint and some new characters.

What did you think of Elseworlds? Did it live up to expectations or were you disappointed by how things played out? As always, share your thoughts on that in the comments section below.

Please make a superman like this guy in the movies. I don't even watch the arrowverse anymore (no disrespect) but i love hearing about what this guy does and watching his clips.

@CrazyCipher - I know people talk about his physical look, but I like Superman when he seems more like this than OTT.

Also, I kind of like the power level for Superman in this as well, reminds of TAS where he was strong, fast etc but he felt like he could lose in a fight.

They made Superman job to Supergirl again. "You're better than me, Supergirl. BETTER!!! Did I say that loud enough, Lois?"

@Luminus - Yeah, the whole emasculation of Superman is tiresome. I get the focus has to be on Kara, but come on.

My idea for superman in this arrowverse is somewhat different from what they are setting up. You see, this is gonna be somewhat of an origin story with the pilot, though theres a twist at the end. So clark is starting his new life in metropolis not really knowing where he fits in. Hes struggling with a newspaper that doesnt seem to care about people, he cant talk to a girl in his office he has a crush on, and he has these powers that prevent him from fully fitting in. But then an accident occurs where he manages to save some people and begins devoting himself to saving people. He wants to allow a normal life for himself but also cant lie to people so he assumes the identity of kal el publicly while wearing traditional kryptonian clothes. Newspapers start calling him superman for marketing reasons which he decides to go by as people seem to respond to the hope it brings. After defeating the bad guy of the episode, he gets the courage to ask lois out and just before he goes out for the date, barry allen comes in dressed in the current season outfit, confirming that we arent on earth 38 but earth 1 and this is present time. Next episode barry tells this clark about the clark from the other universe, so this story becomes more about what it means about destiny as well as being more about different dimensions since supergirl already covers aliens and flash has time travel.

@Origame - That's pretty much the supergirl pilot, but i would like to see an Earth 1 Clark story told.

@TechNation - well supergirl was taking cues from superman. Here, hes figuring everything out on his own. Nothing to inspire him, just what will work for who he is. Plus the reveal of earth 1 and him dealing with the knowledge of earth 38. In fact the main villain will be ultraman and the question is raised of whether he'll end up like ultraman or superman.

I don't know guys. I hate this guy as superman. It's not "Superman" himself it is the actor. I just don't see Superman when I look at this guy.

While people talk crap about the CW, it’s crazy how the CW took their time leading to an event like this. 7 seasons of Arrow, 5 seasons of Flash, seasons of supergirl and then they finally lead into this storyline. Good job CW

I think they do a great job considering the time restraint for a show that is with out commercial only about 45-47 minutes and a limited budget.

I really am gonna try to prepare for Crisis by finding the book and reading it.

I do wonder for how many nights it will pan over. If they make Batwoman's show official and also include Black Lightning in the crossover then it would be a special 6-night crossover event with Supergirl, Arrow, Legends of Tomorrow, Black Lightning and The Flash.

Maybe even a 7-night crossover event if they make my dream true and give us the long-building Legion of Super-Heroes show.

Anyway, I can’t wait for 2019 to bring Avengers: Endgame and Crisis on Infinite Earths! 👍

@NinnesMBC - Oops! I meant Supergirl, Arrow, Legends of Tomorrow, Batwoman, Black Lightning and The Flash. Now it’s a 6 night crossover. 😅

This article didn't even mention the apparent confirmation that Steel exists on Earth-38. Unless the hammer that Lois used is totally not the hammer that Steel uses.

@GAThrawnIGF - Elizabeth Tulloch said that she was told by Robert Rovner, one of the showrunners of Supergirl, that it was the solar hammer from the cosmic anvil, the same one that Superman showed in All Star Superman. Is that the same hammer John Henry Irons uses? I wasn’t aware.

I am always up for more Superman Family members to appear in the show. We already had Mon-El so Steel would fit at some point too or his daughter Natasha Irons. Also Conner Kent.
