SMALLVILLE's Doomsday Sam Witwer Joins The Cast Of SUPERGIRL Season 4 As Agent Liberty

Following in the footsteps of fellow Smallville alums Erica Durance and Laura Vandervoort, Sam Witwer has now joined the cast of Supergirl season four in the series regular role of Agent Liberty.

Entertainment Weekly is reporting that Sam Witwer has joined the cast of the upcoming fourth season of Supergirl as a series regular.

Witwer will play the first live-action version of the DC Comics character Agent Liberty, who the CW describes as "the founder and figurehead of the Children of Liberty – a hate group that supports a human-first world order. Ruthless and terrifying, the scariest thing about Agent Liberty might be just how easily he can convince you that he’s in the right. He’s a brilliant orator in the guise of a family man." He'll presumably be one of the new season's primary antagonists alongside Red Son Supergirl (Melissa Benoist).

Considering that Kara and her friends at the DEO lean heavily toward human/alien integration, it's probably a safe bet that he'll be clashing with the Girl of Steel and company at more than one point during the coming season.

Witwer is, of course, best known for portraying Davis Bloome/Doomsday during the epic eighth season of Smallville. His past credits also include Being Human, Star Wars: Rebels, and Once Upon A Time. He's also the latest Smallville veteran to fly over to Supergirl, following Erica Durance (Lois Lane), who is expected to return in a recurring capacity as Alura Zor-El for Season 4, and Laura Vandervoort (Kara Zor-El/Supergirl), who appeared in Season 1.

As Superman’s cousin, Kara Danvers (aka Supergirl) balances her work as a reporter for CatCo Worldwide Media with her work for the Department of Extra-Normal Operations (DEO), a super-secret government organization whose mission is to keep National City – and the Earth – safe from sinister threats. At the DEO, Kara works for J’onn J’onzz, the Martian Manhunter, and alongside her sister, Alex, and best friend, Winn Schott. Also in Kara’s life are James Olsen, a photo journalist who moonlights as Guardian, a masked vigilante, Lena Luthor, and Mon-El of Daxam, whose planet was ravaged by Krypton’s destruction. In season three, Kara and team will come up against a new threat in the form of DC Worldkiller, Reign.

Supergirl features:
Melissa Benoist as Kara Zor-El/Supergirl
Mehcad Brooks as James 'Jimmy' Olsen/Guardian
Chyler Leigh as Alexandra 'Alex' Danvers
Jeremy Jordan as Winslow 'Winn' Schott
David Harewood as J'onn J'onzz/Martian Manhunter
Katie McGrath as Lena Luthor
Jesse Rath as Querl Dox/Brainiac 5
Sam Witwer as Agent Liberty
Erica Durance as Alura Zor-El

Supergirl returns with a brand new episode on October 14

@DENNISsystem - Sam Witwer looks like the kind of guy who takes 3 hours to get ready and his girl has to fight for him when things get real in the club.

If he's a creepy cult leader, I hope he does the Maul voice.

Shoutout Starkiller!

Not only does he play Starkiller and is the voice of Darth Maul in all-things canon, he also is the resident voice for Palpatine in non live-action roles/video games.

I hope he is part of one of the Star Wars spin-off films (if they're ever made).

So his real name is Benjamin Lockwood (Wikipedia) and maybe he might end up looking like this.

Character seems to be the same, just that they changed "Sons of Liberty" to Children of Liberty.

Curious how he'll fit in the plot. Hoping they learned their lesson with how they handled Morgan Edge last year, would like to see Lockwood last a bit further.

@NinnesMBC - Probably never Tom Welling or Michael Roseumbaum. Seriously whats it going to take to get them on the show

@dracula - I can get why they wouldn't, they gave 10 years of their lives to this and are doing or trying new things. (Not sure if Tom will return to Lucifer)

If they did though, it'd be amazing.

@NinnesMBC - It doesnt have to be as a series regular, the only Smallville cast to become series regulars is this guy right now. Michael should be the villain of a Supergril/Flash crossover for obvious reasons

@NinnesMBC - Well, they COULD add anyone. 99% of CW stars are available because, well, they suck.
Or run sex cults.

Sam Witwer deserves so much more than anything he gets on tv. One of my all time favorite actors.

And yeah of course starkiller and maul and doomsday and all his work is awesome. Really like Being Human because of him too.

@csims1885 - I don't think the Comcast/Disney relationship is good enough to think about Namor.

I always thought with the popularity of the Force Unleashed Games they would have given Witwer his own Star Wars movie. A man can dream. Still cool to see him come back to the CW though
