SUPERGIRL: Lex Luthor Is Officially Coming To Season 4 In A Recurring Role

With no plans for another Man of Steel movie, it seems The CW is being allowed to use more Superman characters because it's been confirmed today that Lex Luthor is set to appear during season four...

A number of characters are off limits to the DC TV shows due to Warner Bros. having plans for them on the big screen but with Superman sitting on the shelf for the time being, it seems as if Superman and his supporting cast are now being made readily available to The CW for Supergirl.

It's been confirmed today that Kara Danvers will finally come face to face with her cousin's greatest enemy, Lex Luthor. It's said that the role will be a recurring one and casting is expected to begin shortly. This news also lends a lot of weight to the rumour circulating that Superman is getting his own TV show, especially as Lois Lane is also being introduced in Supergirl this year.

"We’re beyond excited to introduce iconic villain, Lex Luthor, to Supergirl and to weave him into our story this season," say executive producers Robert Rovner and Jessica Queller. "We’ve talked about having Lex on the show since its inception and we’re excited to have him finally arrive. We can’t wait for him to shake things up in National City and watch him go toe to toe with not only Supergirl, but his sister Lena Luthor."

It's said that there are no plans for Lex to appear in the "Elseworlds" crossover event which makes sense considering the fact that's currently shooting in Vancouver. What we don't know is whether he escapes from prison or is released but we'll no doubt have more details in the coming weeks, especially once the role is filled.

@NinnesMBC - Don't get too excited. Judging by how this show rolls, they'll just have him job to Lena Luthor, just like they had Superman job to Supergirl to put her over.

Slowly making for that Superman spin off.

Really hoping it happens. Not an origin or about his other relatives just a straight up Superman show.

@BlackBeltJones - Only because they hightailed it outta Metropolis like smart villains do. They just didn't know another Kryptonian was on the other coast.

@BoyWonder - I would love to see him back.

Bring Welling back too. Maybe as an Elseworlds Superman.

He has been in jail for quite a long time since Superman was introduced in S2. The only bad deed he did was at the beginning in hiring Metalo to kill his sister for changing the company's name.

A little less like Jesse Eisenberg and that's fine by me.

I want Cavill back but since it's less likely happening by the day, I'll take a proper Superman show !!

We haven't had one in decades.

I don't count Smallville or Lois and Clark as straight up Superman shows.

Good time to rewatch S2 then, even with my memory I need to refresh some stuff that they've said about him.

He also has multiple vaults around the globe containing juicy things: kryptonite, Black Mercy-ies, an "atomic axe", etc.

They have to make him interact with Lillian too, his mom.

And with Lex becoming a recurring player, chances of seeing a half-human, half-kryptonian clone called Kon-El are also opening.

At this point, anyone playing Lex Luthor would help wipe away the awfulness of EisenLex.

It seems like we're seeing more and more big players in the Arrowverse. TBH, I wouldn't be surprised if we see Green Lantern, Wonder Woman or even Batman soon.
BoyWonder

@comicfan100 - always reason why we're seeing superman characters is because Warner doesn't care about him anymore only way we see wonder woman is if 84 flops same with Batman

*only reason

@comicfan100 - Its so weird how they're happy to milk every possible spinoff concept dry but think that by not using the main character in a proper normal setting, that THAT is how they can keep from over saturating the market with the character.

Case in point: Gotham, Krypton, and Alfred - but they wouldn't let the CW use Superman for so long and still Batman.

I'd be interested to see how they could do a Green Lantern show. I bet a Wonder Woman one would be structured like old arrow with the flashbacks.

Well, we've seen Hal Jordan in Arrow.

@BoyWonder - But then, they flat out showed us Themyscira during the last season of Legends.
BoyWonder
BoyWonder - 10/18/2018, 2:32 PM
@GAThrawnIGF - in 7 years we have gotten multiple name drops and objects/locations connected to certain characters

I'll bet money we won't see a fully flesh out Batman or wonder woman unless something bad happens to their movies or Warner bros has a change of heart about how dumb they think the audience is I do think we will definitely get a green lantern soon though
BoyWonder
BoyWonder - 10/18/2018, 2:32 PM
@GAThrawnIGF - just look at deathstroke they allow cw to use him unless they have a break through with the character appearing in his own movie or a team up
