SUPERGIRL: Will Kara Reveal Her Secret In The New Promo For Season 3, Episode 19: "The Fanatical"

If last week was the beginning of the end for Supergirl (Melissa Benoist) and Lena Luthor (Katie McGrath), then, tonight's episode was definitely the end of their professional friendship as Kara learned how Lena truly feels about the Girl of Steel, which wasn't particularly nice. She also learned that James (Mehcad Brooks) lied to her about checking Lena's vault, which means there may be some kryptonite stashed away somewhere.

Next week, the show will follow James as he debates the pros and cons of having a secret identity and seemingly prepares himself to reveal his true identity to the world. Meanwhile, Kara gets a lead that may prove to be absolutely vital in her battle against Reign (Odette Annable).

Watch the new promo for episode nineteen, titled "The Fanatical," below:

"The Fanatical" - (8:00-9:00 p.m. ET) (TV-14, V) (HDTV)

JAMES CONSIDERS UNMASKING AS GUARDIAN - When Tanya (guest star Nesta Cooper), a disciple of Coville's, escapes from what's left of his cult, she gives Kara (Melissa Benoist) and James (Mehcad Brooks) a journal that could hold the key to saving Sam (Odette Annable). Someone learns Guardian's identity and threatens to expose James if he doesn't do what they ask. James contemplates what it means to be a black vigilante without a mask in America. Mairzee Almas directed the episode written by Paula Yoo & Eric Carrasco (#319). Original airdate 5/21/2018.

I enjoyed that episode! Reign is pretty good as a villain, definitely more impactful than the thinker imo

@ConnorHawkeye - Being fair Reign delivered one of those good ol' mid-Season finale brutal beat downs that we've seen in Arrow and Flash from it's big bads. The Thinker delivered his own by sending Barry to jail and the last time he gave a good beat down was in 4x18.

I've enjoyed Reign for the ruthelessness and the Hyde & Jekyll angle and also DeVoe for his rise to power at the expense of losing his one genuine support system.

Okay the thing the I still dont understand is how Lena hasnt put two and two together yet that Kara is Supergirl. She's suppose to be one of the smartest women around and she doesnt realize that Supergirl has the same exact friends as Kara (among other obvious clues)?
NinnesMBC
NinnesMBC - 5/14/2018, 8:48 PM
@Himura - Just like Lex doesn't know Clark Kent is Superman. The thing is that it is more than just using the glasses within the context of the stories, it is how they act when they're wearing them: they slouch a bit, behave awkwardly and don't appear as confident and authoritative nor project that vibe that Superman and Supergirl do that makes you feel safe. It'd never cross their minds that these simple normal people are these heroes.

@NinnesMBC - I mean I get the Lex thing but its not like Lex and Clark were ever buddy buddy like Lena and Kara are (besides in Smallville but that doesnt really count).

In this situation, Alex is Kara's sister, who always works with Supergirl. Jimmy is one of her closest friends, who's always w Supergirl (and recently found out he is Guardian), and she also knows Kara dated Mon-El who is an alien too (why would Kara be randomly dating him?). Hell at this point I'm not even sure if its Kara or Supergirl that Lena associates each of them with.

Its not just about the mannerisms and stuff at this point, its literally the company she keeps.

Good episode, the pace was pretty fine too.

That Guardiancorp opening. =3

Every single time that we go to J'onn and M'yrnn scenes it hits too close to home. Very emotional and realistic, poor J'onn. I wasn't expecting that bold move by shifting into one of the White Martians to trigger the memory they needed from M'yrnn only for him to later return to how he was in the end. David Harewood and Carl Lumby are splending in handling these scenes.

Some of the shots of Reign hovering above the city listening were shot the same like in the beginning of the Season with Kara.

An invisible mansion? Lex knows how to live the good life.

R.I.P. Grandma Arias, Sam will be sad to learn she lost her mom. No sign of her at all in this week, she's truly trapped in the Valley of Juru.

Brainiac-5 was so damn sneaky this week with Winn with that gift. But I did like how it showed his attatchment to the others and how he has all the faith in Kara winning in the end with or without a Legionnaire staying behind. Hmm.

Mon-El needs to figure out his stuff like Imra said. The shots/scenes from the Legion crusier in the atmosphere were beautiful though.

Also, Chameleon was one of the Legionnaires in statis. I wonder who were the other two. Reasoning behind their absence made sense too.

Good fight against Reign, Supergirl and Valor cape combos were on point and so was the slo motion with Alex's bullet. And using her original code of ethics to stop her ended up being clever since that is the only thing Reign herself will freeze at since she is too far gone emotionally after she killed her grandma.

Kara's actions behind Lena were going to be brought up and she got it in the worst way possible. There are still 6 eps left before they patch it back, but I agree with Lena this week about how the other things out there that do kill people aren't banned. Way I see it the only way she can get what Kara means is if by any chance she gets the same power set and ends up exposed to the same vulnerability.

Jimmy's ep could be good as long as they don't forget to focus on the book that Coville's follower stole.

Did no one even stop to notice that we’re seeing the debut of Tanya “Power Girl” Spears next week?

@FlixMentallo21 - Keen eye, although it just might be an original character that will be used for the episode of the week. I would like to know her surname first though before jumping to conclusions. Having another iteration of the Power Girl mantle would be fun I admit.

The scene where Reign walked through all of the manor’s defense mechanism unharmed was apparently an homage to one of the first Superman movies as well.

@NinnesMBC -

It was a total recreation of the scene from Superman The Movie where he stormed
Luthor's underground lair. Seems fitting in light of Margo Kidder's passing for there
to be a call back to the granddaddy of modern superhero films.

This whole Kara hates kryptonite users would make a lot more sense, if they didn't make a point that superman hates anyone that has kryptonite, while Kara defended its use while the deo used tons of it for a whole season. Did they forget a whole season.
