SUPERMAN & LOIS Star Elizabeth Tulloch Says Melissa Benoist Has Expressed Interest In Returning As Supergirl

Supergirl wrapped up after six seasons on The CW, but the door was left open to her returning as the Girl of Steel. Now, Superman & Lois star Elizabeth Tulloch suggests that could be on the horizon...

It was recently confirmed that Superman & Lois takes place in its own reality that's completely separate from the Arrowverse. That means heroes like The Flash and Batwoman don't exist in the Man of Steel's world (not the versions we know at least), and the Superman who previously appeared in Supergirl is not the one from this show.

Melissa Benoist ended her time as Kara Danvers after the sixth and final season of Supergirl, though she left the door open to potentially reprising the role down the line.

Now, it appears that could be a cameo in Superman & Lois if comments from Elizabeth Tulloch at Fan Expo Canada are any indication. "We have not heard that rumor about her coming on the show," the Lois Lane actress said. "She has expressed interest to me in doing it and I know that we would love to work with her again, and Grant [Gustin], and everyone else."

So, while the recent rumours Tulloch is referring to might not mean much, it does sound like Benoist has expressed interest in playing Kara again. What take on the Girl of Steel we'd see is hard to say as Diggle's recent appearance has shown just how different these characters can be from reality to reality.

As for Superman actor Tyler Hoechlin, he shared high praise for his old co-star. "Melissa is the sweetest she’s the greatest. I think she was born to play that role. I had so much fun guest starring on the show. [About] the crossovers, you couldn’t say nice enough things about her. She really is the best."

We'll see what happens, but for now, we don't expect to see Supergirl in the series anytime soon. For the most part, it's being treated as a standalone project, meaning crossovers are far from a priority.

As for Benoist, her name has been mentioned a lot lately when it comes to who could play the MCU's Sue Storm in Fantastic Four. There's no indication that the chatter is any more than just that, though!

Also bring in Grant Gustin as the flash.

And Stephen Amell as the green arrow.

Make it as redundant as possible putting superman and lois in its own universe.

She's a great Supergirl and I would love to see her back. But if she's gonna be the guest on Superman's show, then they better show who the real boss is and set things right after this pathetic display:

@THEDARKKNIGHT1939 - this time Clark/Superman isn't the guest star, so I doubt they're gonna sideline him here

@THEDARKKNIGHT1939 - That's exactly what I was thinking while reading this in article "Melissa is the sweetest she’s the greatest. I think she was born to play that role. I had so much fun guest starring on the show. [About] the crossovers, you couldn’t say nice enough things about her. She really is the best."

Like dude we get it she's amazing and the best and better than you in all ways. I actually loved Melissa as Supergirl she was just about perfect for the role but he writing team really really let her down.

I think it would be great to see Benoist again. Not just in this show, but also in The Flash. I just really want one last cross-over (even if it's small-scale like Armageddon) with some of the OGs of the Arrowverse.

I'll treat it as just a rumor and cast-wish scenarios but not getting my hopes up. When they chose to divorce themselves from the main Earth Prime continuity they brought onto themselves a whole bunch of dumb obstacles that wouldn't be today had they stayed with the rest of their peers in their homeworld Earth.

The Multiverse is still close because the physics behind the vibrational energies and barries the new Earths vibrate to changed in post-Crisis, not even the extrapolators devices Cisco came up with worked anymore. It's also why they were gonna stick to just doing crossovers in smaller scales/scope at first by staying in Earth Prime in 2020 and forward had the pandemic not happened.

But let's say they do wanna do a Supergirl & S&L crossover: it has to be Earth Prime Kara because it's what makes sense logistically. They would have to spend time, budget, energy and brainstorm a whole bunch of new ideas to re-introduce to the audience, that was pretty sure S&L was in Earth Prime and they strung along for almost 2 years, a new version of a character they already known and have grown to care about. They would have to set up questions and answers about a new Kara: where she's been, why she's here now, how the characters (mainly Jordan and Jon) react to her, what is her mindset, does she fully embrace her Earth family etc.

It's a CRAPTON of things when they have to get on with their storyline and characters' arcs that can't be wasted in fleshing out another Kara Zor-El.

So there are only two options: they find the way to open up the Multiverse and just do a Kara meets this new Superman and they're quickly besties OR they reveal that their Earth's Kara is a Legionnaire and she's been in the 31st century all along because she arrived earlier than Clark and she met the Legionnaires first and left the present in order to make herself be useful since she never found baby Kal-El.

Take it or leave it, Helbing.

What a Goddamn stupid retroactive reveal they pulled on all the fans, seriously.

"Diggle's recent appearance has shown just how different these characters can be from reality to reality."

False and that's just another thing about why the retcon was so bad: they were so lazy that they didn't even made anything to make David Ramsey's Diggle in S&L look physically different. He literally appeared in the finale looking the exact way he did just a couple of weeks ago in The Flash. You couldn't even tell them apart from Earth Prime and whatever is the designation of S&L's.

Disappointing that she hasn't had at least a cameo yet, but I'm confident she would get some better material on this show than the later seasons of Supergirl.
