The number of superhero TV shows on the air increases on a yearly basis and The CW has become a hub for the DC Universe. The network kicked things off with Arrow in 2012 and followed that with The Flash, Legends of Tomorrow, Supergirl, and Black Lightning. Since then, boss Mark Pedowitz has made it clear that he doesn't want The CW to become known solely for its superhero offering and he confirmed in a recent interview that the network will only air four DC TV shows at any one time.
Bloomberg then pointed out that the Arrowverse programming has taken a hit this year as ratings in the 19 - 49 demographic has that's dipped by 7.5%. However, it's worth noting that the numbers are actually flat with last season when streaming and DVR audience numbers are taken into account.
However, Pedowitz isn't worried about audience fatigue setting in and doesn't see the demand for superhero content coming to an end in the near future. "The audience will tell you when the fatigue has set in. If you have a quality show or a fun show, the audience will stay with it." Black Lightning has been a ratings hit for The CW so his comments add up and it is hard to imagine these shows wrapping up anytime soon. What do you guys think?
