THE FLASH Actor Keiynan Lonsdale Reveals Kid Flash Exit Was His Choice As He Bids Farewell To The Role

It was recently announced that Keiynan Lonsdale who plays Wally West in the CW's Arrow-verse shows would not be returning as series regular for season 4 of the network's Legends of Tomorrow, the news came as a surprise for some while others had expected it after feeling the writers had little left to do with the character.

In a Twitter post, Lonsdale revealed that the decision to depart the DC adaptation was his, revealing that this wasn't a total goodbye as well explaining to fans and thanking them for their support.

Yo! Soo as a lot of you have now read, I'm not returning next season as a regular for The Flash or Legends. It's definitely not a total goodbye or a "see you never" situation, cause Wally West will still be around when you need him the most! :) It's just that it won't be full time anymore.

I've changed a lot in the past year (as you've probably notice lol), and for infinite reasons, my perspective on life & what I want from it now is just completely different. Because of that, my heart told me it was the right time to continue my journey on an unknown path, and I'm so damn grateful to both shows for honoring * respecting that with me.

I love Kid Flash, I love the family I've made & I'm absolutely in love with the invaluable lessons I've learned along the way. Thank you for believing in me & rooting for Wally to thrive, you honestly helped me see that I did indeed deserve to play him and that shit right there made me a stronger actor.

Anyway, I hope you stick around for the new adventures, the only I can promise is Magic.

Love Keiy.

It's certainly true that much has changed for the 26-year-old Australian performer since taking on the role of Wally West, both professionally with the actor starting a music career as well as personally, with Lonsdale coming out as bisexual last year. We will, however, see Keiynan in the role of Kid Flash again for the Season 5 premiere of Flash though no further appearances as the character have been confirmed.

Lonsdale most recently starred as Bram in the Greg Berlanti directed Love, Simon which is now available digitally.

What do you think? Were you moved by Lonsdale's farewell? Are you sad to see the character go? Leave your thoughts below.

Yup he will be back in small cameos at times, lets see what other characters they give more spotlight to.

@aflynn - I thInk this could be good for the show. It always felt crowded and it has had waaaaaaaaaay too many speedsters. The Flash can be interesting when there is a speedster, but not all the time.

I wish the actor well, though. He seems like a kind fellow and I thought he was decent on the shows.

Once again, Flash continues to follow the same pattern as Arrow. Both sidekicks, Roy and Wally, have left the show and will now make brief appearances here and there. The question is whether or not he Will he eventually return as a series regular like Colton Haynes is doing for Season 7.

He was better this year on Legends. He seemed more comfortable. But to be honest, he never really felt like Wally West to me. I wish him well, but I kind of wish they'd just re-cast with someone who can do better.

His music is actually really good and he sings pretty well.

Well I or we already knew this, not a goodbye just a time off.

Just hope at least he can have an actual good role in this year's crossover at least. Sometimes it feels they play it a bit too safe with the characters they use and don't use others that haven't interacted with the others yet. (Wally, Jesse, Jay, Rip, Roy who is now back, Ralph, Nyssa, etc etc etc)

I wish him the best and can't wait for his return when he feels he is ready.

This is all a cover up because he was actually hurt by the fact that his role would diminish as they brought in new characters and place more focus on the Flash.

@DVonShakari - Pretty sure he knew his role was diminished when he got moved to LoT dude

Didn't like his Kid Flash, didn't like his Wally. I am disturbingly pleased with this news, almost giddy.

@SuperManes I feel the same. I really didn't like his portrayal of the character at all. Everything about him felt forced, and over-dramatic. Good riddance, I say. The Flash in general has really gone downhill. Season 3 was bad, and 4 was even worse. At this point, I'm not at all even interested in the show anymore. At least the comics are pretty good right now.

Good. Now why can't Candice Patton do the same?
