THE FLASH: Barry Allen Might Be Screwed In The New Promo For January's Midseason Premiere

Tonight's fall finale of The Flash finally revealed DeVoe's sinister plan and now Barry Allen finds himself potentially facing life in prison, which by all accounts, is not good.

While we don't have a title just yet, the CW has released a brief promo for the midseason premiere, which will see Barry Allen put on trial and with the trial apparently not going his way, it looks like his only option may be to reveal himself as The Scarlet Speedster. Meanwhile, with Team Flash without their leader, it'll fall on the Elongated Man to step up and pull double duty as the hero of Central City.

Watch the new promo for episode ten below:

"TBD" - (8:00-9:00 p.m. ET) (Content Rating TBD) (HDTV)

TBD. Original airdate 01/16/2017.

Last season, Barry Allen aka The Flash used his extraordinary abilities to travel back in time and save his mother’s life, and inadvertently created an alternate timeline known as Flashpoint. The phenomenon not only gave birth to the villainous God of Speed known as Savitar, but changed the lives of Caitlin Snow and Wally West forever. With the help of his adoptive father, Detective Joe West, his fiancée Iris West, and his friends at S.T.A.R. Labs – Cisco Ramon and Harrison Wells -- Barry continues to protect the people of Central City from the meta-humans that threaten it. But first, he’ll have to escape the Speed Force – an extra-dimensional entity teeming with unknown dangers – that Barry sacrificed himself to in order to save Central City.

The Flash features:
Grant Gustin as Barry Allen/The Flash
Candice Patton as Iris West-Allen
Danielle Panabaker as Caitlin Snow/Killer Frost
Carlos Valdes as Cisco Ramon/Vibe
Tom Cavanagh as Dr. Harrison Wells
Jesse L. Martin as Detective Joe West
John Wesley Shipp as Henry Allen/Jay Garrick
Michelle Harrison as Nora Allen
Keiynan Lonsdale as Wally West/Kid Flash
Violett Beane as Jesse Quick
Tom Felton as Julian Dorn
Hartley Sawyer as Ralph Dibny/Elongated Man
Neil Sandilands as Clifford DeVoe/The Thinker

The Flash returns with an all-new episode January 16

Thinker is now my favorite villain in any CW show. And it took a lot to surpass Tom's Eobard from season 1. He's so menacing and doesn't need the overplayed superspeed for an edge.

I liked Blacksmith's role and when I read that the villainous Brainstorm was going to be introduced in the midseason finale, but then saw what the characterization was like, I was wondering what the twist was going to be as he didn't seem evil. But I didn't expect THAT twist. This was possibly the best cliffhanger the CW's ever done as well. Mid-January is going to feel so far away.

Also, were those images of Flash's trial taken from the time where he killed Eobard Thawne?

Good episode. My only real complaint is that I really liked the original actor for Davoe (when he wasn't dressed up as a power rangers villain), and I'm not sure about this new guy, but maybe he will grow on me.

I really thought that twist was gonna come at the end of the season. So glad they didnt wait.

A shame though cuz I was really starting to like the actor playing DeVoe.

@Obi2 - I have a feeling with his telepathic powers they may use that as an excuse to bring the actor back.

Hey, Mark Valley! Really liked him on Human Target. The guy would've made a pretty good Steve Rogers about 20 years ago.

@BIGBMH - 20 years ago??? This whole site wanted him for the role when they were casting.

@CaptainAmerica - Valley is 52 right now. Back in 2010, when they were shooting Cap: TFA, he was 45 compared to Evans who was 29. Valley would've worked for a seasoned Cap, but if you want to show the beginning of the character as this naive-but-noble, frail kid and show him grow into the seasoned Captain America whose a leader and role model, it makes much more sense to cast younger. Evans was able to bring that youthful element to the beginning of the character and he works well as a more mature Cap in his prime now. I think 20 years ago, a 32 year old Mark Valley would've fit that bill.

@BIGBMH - oh I agree completely, just remember him and Ackles being the top choices.

@CaptainAmerica - I can certainly understand the instinct because it's so easy to picture him as Steve.

Excellent end and twist

Supergirl and Flash both with excellent cliffhanger mid season finales

Looking forward to Legends and Arrow

@bigdannymac - the Supergirl fight reminded me of Superman vs Doomsday in Death of Superman. I was really hoping she would flatline going into the midseason break, and then after the break, they have a funeral, but someone shows up doing Supergirl type deeds (and it is actually Superman filling in for her), and then in a couple weeks she returns from "the dead" (she was never dead, just injured so badly that her Kryptonian biology shuts down to give appearance of death while she recovers). That would be neat.

@tugboy - I didn't expect Supergirl to actually crash into the ground. I thought Jimmy would have pushed his Superman emergency button and he would have shown up

I agree. It had the exact same feel as Superman vs Doomsday.

I hope Superman shows up at some point though. Great finale.
