Joe West has been one heck of a staple throughout his time in
The Flash. Brilliantly portrayed by Jesse L. Martin, he unfortunately had to leave the show due to a back problem. Fans were worried why his character was sitting down for the majority of the start in season 5, and why he didn't seem the same. Thankfully, he's gotten the time he needed off, and
TVLine reports that he should be back in Central City by episode 15.
“There’s an explanation, and then there’s another sort of thing down the line that will give more explanation as to why [Joe] was gone for so long,” showrunner Todd Helbing stated. He continued,“I’ll just say there’s some technology that S.T.A.R. Labs has [via which] he’s gone and he’s not gone at the same time."
Really good news to hear. The show isn't the same without him. With Barry and his team trying to take down Cicada, it's apparent Joe couldn't have returned at a better time.
The Flash runs back with new episodes on
January 15th.
