TITANS: First Season 3 Trailer Seemingly Teases "A Death In The Family"

Well, this was unexpected!

Following our first official look at Jonathan Crane (Vincent Kartheiser) and Barbara Gordon (Savannah Welch) earlier today, HBO Max has released the first teaser trailer for Titans season 3, and it certainly seems to hint that the now infamous "A Death in the Family" storyline will be adapted for the show.

The promo begins with Jason Todd (Curran Walters) making his way through what appears to be an abandoned amusement park before discovering a corpse with a twisted grin on its face. We then hear an unmistakable cackle, followed by a quick shot of someone beating Todd(?) with a crowbar.

If you've read the comic, you'll know that The Joker despatches the unfortunate Boy Wonder in this exact manner. This could very easily turn out to be misdirection, of course, but based on this footage, Scarecrow won't be the only classic Batman villain making his debut this season!

Kartheiser and Welch join returning cast members Brenton Thwaites as Dick Grayson, Anna Diop as Kory Anders, Teagan Croft as Rachel Roth, Ryan Potter as Garfield Logan, Curran Walters as Jason Todd, Conor Leslie as Donna Troy, Minka Kelly as Dawn Granger, Alan Ritchson as Hank Hall, Joshua Orpin as Superboy, Chelsea Zhang as Rose Wilson, Chella Man as Jericho, Drew Van Acker as Aqualad, Esai Morales as Deathstroke, Jay Lycurgo as Tim Drake and Iain Glen as Bruce Wayne.

Titans season 3 will air on the HBO Max streaming service. Akiva Goldsman, Geoff Johns, and Greg Berlanti will once again serve as executive producers along with Greg Walker and Sarah Schechter

@BlackBeltJones - When swamp thing got cancelled, the execs revealed that Titans was their most profitable show. It cost only about 25 mil and gets a lot of subs/views. I def seeing this going on until S6 at least.

I don't see any of these Berlanti streaming shows getting cancelled. They are growing with Green Lantern Corps coming up next and I wouldn't be surprised if Berlanti is in charge of the DC HBO Max movies too.

If this show goes under, they should just keep Iain Glen and turn it into a Batman Beyond show.

@Se4M4NSt4ine - oddly enough, Brenton would have made a pretty good Terry.

@ElricReturns - if I’m honest , and I maybe wrong here but terry has always come off as a more moody dick Grayson so I feel like any actor good to play Nightwing could also do terry

That Red Hood helmet makes it look like a Funko Pop with the comically large size of it

I'm really glad they're aren't skipping the Joker killing him. He hasn't actually been hurt enough to transform into Red Hood yet.

Not even hiding how much they wish they were making a Batfam show instead of Titans.

There's just not enough cake, sparkles, and pizza in this show. Oh, and Plastic Man, there's definitely not enough Plastic Man.

I know I'm like the one person on this site that likes this show a lot but I'm pretty stoked to see it back.

That Red Hood helmet is god awful though for a show that has great costume designs

This show is basically the Snyder cut of shows. Throw so many comic story lines in with no build up and hope that fans are like look the joker with a crow bar so cool.

Wow so Titans is getting its own Joker? Cool. I guess Dick will be playing Batman's role in this iteration of Death in the Family.

On a related note, "Hit Series"?

I actually do like this show despite its many flaws, but Red Hood looks absolutely ridiculously awful. What were they thinking?!

This show is like a car crash, you want to look away but for some reason you keep watching it all.

The teaser had pretty cool music and shots.

However, after the second half of last season, I'm keeping my expectations low.
