TITANS Season 1, Episode 2 Promo Features A First Look At Hawk And Dove In Action

DC Universe has released the first promo for episode two of Titans and in case the title ("Hawk and Dove") wasn't a clue, this episode will be putting the spotlight on those two heroes. Check it out!

The first episode of Titans was unnecessarily violent but it definitely exceeded expectations, and the stage has now been set for what looks to be an enjoyable run of installments on the DC Universe streaming app.

Now, a preview of this Friday's episode has been revealed and it puts the spotlight on Hawk and Dove (and yes, there's once again quite a bit of blood here when Hawk takes down a goon).

The dynamic between them and Robin seems to be a lot of fun and it looks like there may be history there because Hawk makes a dig about the Boy Wonder teaming up with the violent vigilantes here.

Beyond that, we don't learn much about what to expect but the synopsis for "Hawk and Dove" makes it clear that the story with Raven will also continue to develop.

Oh, and in case you missed them the first time, you can hit the "View List" button below to check out some stills from the episode.

Hank Hall aka Hawk and Dawn Granger aka Dove are a pair of vigilantes, hoping to get out of the superhero business after shutting down one final criminal operation. When Dick arrives at their doorstep with Rachel, looking for a safe haven for the hunted child, his reappearance after many years causes strife between all three of them. Still traumatized over the death of her mother, Rachel struggles to trust Dick.  But all their differences must be put aside when a lethal Nuclear Family, sent by The Organization, is activated with the sole purpose of capturing Rachel.

Say what you will about Robin and his potty mouth but DC Universe has done a great job of bringing him to life on the small screen and had he appeared in the DCEU, this suit would have worked.

It appears as if Hawk and Dove have interrupted Robin during one of his many beatdowns on Gotham City's crooks and the young hero seems to be spoiling for a fight with his two fellow superheroes.

As unnecessarily violent as this show might end up getting, it does appear as if the action scenes will be a highlight. The breaking bones and blood could prove to be a bit much as time goes on, though.

Another good thing about this show is the costumes. The CW has always done a pretty good job but it definitely seems as if quite a bit more money has been spent on these than what we've seen before.

It's been a very long time since we've seen Robin in a live-action setting and as I mentioned above, Titans has handled things well. However, his gloves being stained with blood really isn't great.

I'm not sure who or what this lot is supposed to be but I'm getting serious Gotham vibes from this creepy looking family and that can't be a good thing. The question is, what exactly are they after?

Well, I'm guessing they're on the other side of that door for starters and are probably hunting down Raven. Given her supernatural powers, perhaps the weirdos are actually just disguised as humans.

Dick Grayson takes out some poor thug here and while I'm not sure we needed two angles of this same shot, there's no denying that Robin looks good in action and should have an impressive set of skills.

Alan Ritchson is no stranger to playing a superhero after suiting up as Aquaman in Smallville and playing Raphael in the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movies and it looks like he'll fit right in as Hawk.

This is a great shot of Hawk in action and no matter what else you say about this show, Warner Bros. deserves a lot of credit for adapting his comic book costume to the screen in such a faithful way.

It definitely looks like Robin takes Raven to Hawk and Dove's place to hide her, a plan which presumably doesn't work very well based on that shot of the weird looking family at their door.

Well, don't these two look good together? There's been no mention of Dick Grayson having a love interest in the series but Starfire is one strong possibility unless Oracle has been cast in the show.

Aren't these two a lovely couple? With any luck, we won't get quite as much on the nose imagery as Hawk holding a dove while talking to Dove throughout the rest of the series as it's a tad cheesy.

Another flashback to the night Dick Grayson's parents died, their demise is clearly going to play a huge role in Robin's arc in this series as he attempts to come to terms with what happened to them.

More evidence mounts here that Robin will take Raven under his wing and it's interesting that that's the dynamic this show is going for rather than making them equals when they form this team.

Well, the show is clearly going to earn its R-Rating based on what we see here. I'm not sure what the significance of that tattoo can be so if you have any ideas, be sure to let us know your thoughts below.

I've decided I'm going to binge this when the first season is done. I'mnot going to make it nit picking every flaw week to week. But if I just binge it all in one sitting I might see it under a different light. It was a struggle to even finish that first episode.

@ArthurFleck - On the nit-picking - I don't personally hate the guy who plays Robin in the role - I think if he transitioned to playing Nightwing it'd be butter because he seems too old for the role and I find it odd him and Jason Todd being Robin at the same time

@rabid - so i guess you are not bothered by the character assassination they are doing to him as long as he breaks bones. Let menguess, you tyink affleck is the best batman.

@Jeight8 - What character assassination? This series draws heavily from 1996's Nightwing series.

There's also another preview where Rachel and Dick introduce themselves. Rachel has a vision where Dick shows Dove his "birdarang".

This feels like a CW show just darker. There's really no contrast in terms of the broader tone besides the blood and swears. The atmosphere is very much like an Arrow just rated MA...and campier. Episode 1 was ok.

Sigh

The first episode didn't kill my interest. The fight with Robin and the kidnappers was a bit ruthless but the choreography was solid and the effect with Ravens powers isn't bad. Also the Starfire stuff felt sooooo out of place. I was like wtf am i watching lol but a fine little mystery on its own. Overall like i said im still in and looking forward to episode 2.

@Super12 - I second to that. Loving the suit and I think the guy who plays Dick looks pretty much like Robin -the teen wonder version, not the boy wonder- just perfect.

Looks like Netflix is only gonna upload the episodes a week after they air, kinda like it does with Black Lightning. So yeah, gotta find another way to watch. :P

Still looking forward to this.

Best part of Episode One and maybe I read it wrong but...

MAYOR TO ROBIN: GO HOME!

Lmao, had me rolling. Not sure if it was the weed but...damn love how everyone undermines Robin in the show.

Good episode though, hate the week to week vibe going on but I like it. Not bad.

@AyMan - That's how it was in the first issue of Nightwing. The mayor and police chief tried to arrest him and run him out of Bludhaven. They didn't want no stinkin capes in their town!

First episode was okay-ish. The action wasn't too bad, and neither were the effects. Overall it felt a bit more like something like an extra brutal Heroes, only with a Robin costume and some Batman name drops. I find it difficult so far to get a feeling for what the DC universe this is set in actually looks like. Who's out there besides Batman? What are they doing?

I'm also not quite sold on any of the actors in their respective roles yet. Gotta especially see more interactions of the actual team to know if they'll work for me. Curious about Hawk and Dove, they look rather cool.

I'd say I liked Diop as "Starfire" the most out the ones we saw more of so far. It was cute to hear her speak German, and they even got the grammar right... well, for most of her lines. What I have to say though: she should make anyone who ever complained about Jessica Jones only having one set of clothes go crazy.

First episode was good, made me invested in the storyline moving forward.

I'm eager to see Starfire's background and her relationship with Raven. Robin is perfectly casted and Beast Boy looks like he's going to be a lot of fun!
