Off-topic: apparently Benioff and Weiss were off Star Wars long before the announcement a couple days ago.

I'm really hoping this does what the movie kind of failed to do (for me). It seems like an interesting world and premise, but it was too much to pack into a short run time and also get invested in the characters.

Got to see a fan screening of the first episode, and as a fan of the books...it was [frick]ing excellent!

They nailed the tone - much more grounded than the movie, and embraces the darkness in the source material as much as the light.

The world of fascinating and the cast is fire. Dafne Keen easily and effortlessly spearheads the show, and James McAvoy and Ruth Wilson are already adding such layers and depth to their performance (especially if you’ve read the books and know the twists and turns in store) already.

CGI is also impeccable. Overall the entire theatre asking the HBO reps if we could just watch the whole show once it was done cause it was so good!
