As promised, HBO has released the first official trailer for the eagerly awaited second season of Westworld, and it seems to touch on all of the major storylines leftover from the season one finale.

Bernard is still struggling to cope with who, or what, he is, while Dolores attempts to convince him of the beauty within all hosts. Teddy laments the bloodshed, Maeve seeks out her daughter while seeking revenge, and the Man in Black promises to “burn this whole thing to do ground.”

It all ends with the chilling exchange between Bernard and Dolores. “You frighten me sometimes, Dolores,” Bernard says, before she cracks a smile and asks, “Why on Earth would you ever be frightened of me?” Yup, there's going to be bloodshed.

In addition to the robot uprising, you may have caught a glimpse of Shogunworld, the feudal Japan-themed park that we're expecting to visit in the upcoming season. 

Specific details regarding Westworld season 2 are still a mystery, but the season's working title - "The Door" - seems to suggest that the hosts are ready to expand and discover what lies beyond their theme park.

The reckoning arrives when Westworld season 2 premieres on HBO on April 22.

One of the best parts of this show is the piano covers of songs. Paint it Black and House of the Rising Sun stick out from last year. That was some sort of symphonic version of Heart Shaped Box in this trailer.

@MotherGooseUPus - I don't think its my cup of tea. I think it would be very easy for me to get upset with choices they make on that show, how they eliminate certain characters, etc. But more than that, the amount of drama would probably be abrasive to me. The only episodes I've ever tuned in for (maybe 4?) Involved either white walkers or a giant battle, and those were great episodes. I just don't think it's my type of show. Plus I'm already watching so many things...

I used to watch TWD, gave up on that show and switched to The Strain which I liked so much more. But that show is over now. So Ash v Evil Dead is the only living dead show I watch.

So several things I picked up on off the bat

1) Shogun World (we knew this was coming)

2) A theory I've had is that Future World will be another park visited. We've seen Dolores in a modern setting, with everyone else frozen (in a previous trailer). Another glimpse of her in a modern setting here.

3) We might have gotten confirmation that the parks are on an island, a theory from last season. It appears that they are standing on the beach, and yes, we had the beach in episode 10 of last season, but this kind of reaffirms all of those suspicions.

Holy [frick]ing hell, THAT is a trailer! Loved the first season but none of the previous trailers or promos were getting me pumped for this one. TILL THAT! Wow.

I too loved the piano covers of classic rock songs. This one was amazing. While they’re at Nirvana ‘Where Did You Sleep Last Night’ would translate well (I know, Leadbelly did it first, and arguably best, but Nirvana’s version is a beast all of its own). When rock songs are composed in a classical fashion it just shows how fantastic the music itself is and disproves a lot of music snobs. A violin cover of ANY iron maiden song is better than most classical pieces I’ve heard, which is mind blowing.

YES!!!! Rock and metal have some of the best musical writing, artists, etc. out there today. And the music itself is timeless. [Iron Maiden is my favorite band, best metal band out there]
