WESTWORLD Star Vincent Cassel Isn't Keen On Starring In A Superhero Movie; Feels They're "For Kids"

Vince Cassel is no stranger to franchises after starring in the Oceans movies and Jason Bourne, but he recently dipped his toes into the sci-fi realm with HBO's Westworld. Asked by Inverse whether he's interested in potentially boarding a superhero project, the actor was quick to point out that the genre isn't one he really identifies with as an actor.

"Honestly, these are not movies I watch anymore," he explained. "When they came up with the technology and the fact that suddenly Iron Man or Spider-Man could look real and not tacky in the special effects, I was interested. Then, it became normal. I was a big fan of the comics at the time when I was a kid. Nowadays, I think these are movies for kids, really."

"And even though I still have a part of me who's a kid, I would say no. I wouldn't watch it."

However, Cassel didn't completely close the door on potentially boarding a Marvel or DC Comics project, and explained that he would only star in one that "doesn't look like a movie for kids."

"Maybe if you had a great villain and it's done with by somebody who's really intelligent and talented enough to give it a twist, so it doesn't look like a movie for kids, then maybe I would do it," Cassel said. "But otherwise, no. The few approaches that I had, I felt like it would have been a long time commitment for something that I wouldn't even watch to the end."

We don't need to report every-time an actor has a dissenting opinion on funnybook movies, lol

I he replaced the word ''kids'' with ''mass audiences'', I would definitely understand his point of view. By accusing CBMs of being kids movies definitely undermines the both audience and the people who work on these type of movie

@MalseMarcel - Considering you're considered a kid until you're 18 he's not wrong. Doesn't mean you can't also enjoy them as an adult. And considering most people start thinking they're all grown up around 15 (which they ain't), it's all relative. But he's covering his bases here because he didn't single any one out and he didn't rule out the possibility based on the quality of the story.

If anyone has seen Irreversible, it's easy to see that he doesn't do kids movies.

Nothing wrong with that. He wasn't disrespectful about it, that's just his take.

100% respect. He's not wrong.

All he's saying is he doesn't want to do something overly flashy and geared towards kids. He doesn't want a four quadrant film to work on. He wants something a little more niche. Which is fine. He'd work great in a film with some of DC's more mature characters. I hope we can see him in one of these films. I know I'd love to.
