After sharing a new poster earlier this month, HBO has finally debuted the official trailer for Westworld season three, featuring plenty of exciting new footage, previewing things to come this Spring when the series returns after a lengthy two-year hiatus.

The eagerly awaited March 15th season premiere will run an extended seventy minutes, starting at 9:00 p.m. EST, and the season as a whole has been confirmed for eight episodes.

The returning star cast includes Evan Rachel Wood as Dolores, Primetime Emmy-winner Thandie Newton as Maeve, Ed Harris as Man in Black, Jeffrey Wright as Bernard, Tessa Thompson as Charlotte, Luke Hemsworth as Stubbs, Simon Quarterman as Lee Sizemore and Rodrigo Santoro as Hector Escaton.

New players joining the ensemble are Aaron Paul (Breaking Bad), Vincent Cassel (Jason Bourne), Lena Waithe (Master of None), Grammy Award-winner Scott Mescudi (Bill & Ted Face the Music), Super Bowl champion Marshawn Lynch (Brooklyn Nine-Nine), John Gallagher Jr. (The Newsroom), Michael Ealy (Stumptown) and Tommy Flanagan (Sons of Anarchy).

Thandie Newton returns as Maeve Millay. She scored a Primetime Emmy Award for her work on the series back in 2018, following season two, and has also earned two Golden Globe nominations.

Marvel fan-favorite Tessa Thompson (Thor: Love and Thunder) returns as Maeve, but based on the SDCC trailer, it looks like she'll be pulling double duty this season as in addition to her original role, she'll also be playing Dolores from time-to-time.

Gotham's new Commissioner Jeffrey Wright (The Batman) returns as Bernard Lowe. While he's already won both a Golden Globe and Primetime Emmy, he's also earned two Primetime Emmy nominations for his work on this series.

Evan Rachel Wood returns as Dolores Abernathy. She's earned two Primetime Emmy nominations and a Golden Globe nomination for her work on the series.

Despite seemingly meeting his end at the end of Westworld season two, 4x Academy Award-nominee and 2x Golden Globe-winner Ed Harris (Top Gun: Maverick) will be back as the Man in Black. He nabbed a Primetime Emmy nomination for his work in season two.

Golden Globe-nominee Aaron Paul (Breaking Bad; El Camino) joins the series as Caleb, a mysterious - but very important - new character who will have a major role to play in the coming season.

Awesome trailer, this season looks crazy. And it feels, understandably, like such a different show. Cant wait to see where season 3 takes us after the mind bending season 2.

It kinda feels like the final season while there is meant to be two more... I do wonder where it can go from here.

I really like Westworld, but I hope this season the plot will be more straightforward and not as complex as in S1/S2.

I was often feeling like "what the *** is going on" during the first 2 seasons.

@kylo0607 - I mean thats the whole appeal to the show. I watch it for the mind[frick]ery and even when its too much and doesnt even make sense. Most shows are way too predictable nowadays.

@kylo0607 - I think I remember reading somewhere, Jonathon Nolan saying it was gonna be more straightforward and less of a guessing game than the previous seasons.

I agree though, season 1 I thought was fairly standard science fiction complex, but I remember finding season 2 hard to follow at parts, so I'm happy this will be less confusing! :)

@Nightmare - He re-lived that famous Cart-driving moment when he was the guest of honor at Cal back in 2016. Hilarious.

@MotherGooseUPus - definitely finish season 2, thought it was even better than S1 but it's a bit too complicated for most people I think.

@tmp3
Their main focus was giving us "awesome twists" and not telling a good story.

Or maybe i should say that their storytelling sucked ass.
