Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D - Three Theories On Who Skye Really Is.

Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D - Three Theories On Who Skye Really Is.

On AOS, it's been teased that our favorite Asset/Consultant, on Agent Coulson's team, may actually be a familiar face from the comics. Many have speculated, and here are my top three picks.

QUICK WARNING, THERE MAY BE SPOILERS FROM CAPTAIN AMERICA THE WINTER SOLDIER AND THE LATEST EPISODES OF AGENTS OF S.H.I.E.L.D AHEAD!!!

Before we get started, let's disscuss what we know about Skye:
1.  It's been teased that Skye is not her actual name.
2.  It's been teased that Skye has powers.
3.  Skye had a much different reaction to GH.325 than Coulson.
4.  The Clairvoyant(as of right now, seems to be Agent Garret) is interested in something Skye has.
5.  Skye has come to like S.H.I.E.L.D but does not like all the secrets.
6.  Skye is an 0-8-4

#3.  Jessica Drew/Spider Woman:

This has been one of the most popular theories amongst fans, and it use to be my top theory.  Jessica Drew as a child suffered radiation poisoning from long exposure to uranium; in attempt to save her, her father injected her with a serum made of spider's blood and she was sealed inside a genetic accelerator.  While I believe this theory may still be possible, here's why it's no longer my top choice:  Skye is an 0-8-4, an object o unknown origin, and while Jessica Drew is unique, her origin is known and Skye's blood could have easily been tested to find out what's been done to her.  Skye was put in a pressurized tube, such as Jessica Drew, but Skye was put in as an adult, after being shot and was saved with what's possibly an alien drug, unlike Jessica who was put in as a child, for being poisoned and was injected with a spider based serum.  The reason this theory is still on my list is because the idea is still possible and because the name of the show reminds me of the motion comic Spider Woman Agent of S.W.O.R.D.

#2.  Carol Danvers/Captain Marvel/Ms. Marvel:

Carol Danvers, after being offered a job at Nasa, she quit the Air Force.  She became close with a Kree soldier Mar-Vell, and after being kidnapped by Yon-Rogg, Mar-Vell battled a confused Carol which would later alter her genetic structure, making her half Kree and half human.  While Carol's origin fits even less than Jessica Drew's does to Skye, this theory is higher on this list because of GH.325.  While it's not officially confirmed, it's safe to speculate that the creature in which the drug comes from is alien and most likely Kree.  My theory is that what ever makes Skye an 0-8-4 is what will allow the Kree serum to unlock powers within her.

#1.  Abigail Brand:

This is my top theory and for good reason.  We do not know much about Abigail's past, and we don't know much about Skye's either.  Abigail can speak alien languages and create blue energy in her palms, while we have no confirmed powers from skye, it has been teases she has powers, and Abigail out of the three is the only one born with them.  Abigail's father is alien and her mother gave her the X-gene, and this could explain why Skye is an 0-8-4 and why she had a different reaction to GH.325 than Coulson(I always thought it was because she was alive when given it, but Coulson, Fitz, and Simmons keep stressing the fact, so I think there may be more to it) and a MCU version of the X-gene could be what the Clairvoyant wants from Skye.  Abigail is head of S.W.O.R.D a subdivision of S.H.I.E.L.D, and as of now in the MCU S.H.I.E.L.D has been taken down and bringing S.W.O.R.D in would be a good way to go with the show.  If S.H.I.E.L.D ever rebuild, with Fury playing dead, Maria Hill will probably become the new director and she and Abigail do not get along, and we know Skye is not the ideal S.H.I.E.L.D agent and she and Maria Hill probably wouldn't get along.

#Bonus theory, if Skye isn't a character from the comics:  If she isn't a character from the comics, I believe she may be a "miracle" such as Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver.  The Clairvoyant could be working for or is Baron von Strucker, and has found out the secret to what allowed Wanda and Pietro to survive, and it's possibly something Skye has aswell.

So what do you think?  Do you agree with any of these theories, do you have any of your own?  Let me know below!

I think that all those theories are very plausible. But I would hate it if she were Carol Danvers. Carol has such a rich history as a pilot, a member of the military, a superhero, and a strong female character. To see that history reduced to "whiny, confused, not-strong, hacker who's only a S.H.I.E.L.D. agent for bureaucratic reasons," would be a detriment to the Ms./Captain Marvel I've come to love.

Plus, Carol Danvers needs her own movie.

please not carol. The other two i'd be ok with, I'm pulling for Spider-Woman. Abigale can be introduced later.

I'm with you guys on Carol, I don't want Sky to be her, but she is a popular theory and I could see them go that route, but I don't want them too. Abigail is my top choice because I feel as of now, if she's any of these three, she could be Abigail without messing too much with her origin.

Wait, I thought Sony owned Spider-Woman since they own the rights to the Spidey-verse.

@yonny Ultimate Spider Woman, yeah they probably own her, but 616 Spider Woman is less associated with the Spidey-verse than most realize.

@yonny - if Sony owned the rights the Spider-Woman, they'd be all over making that movie. Not trying to make anti-heros out of the sinister six because they only have one actual super hero!

Why the [frick] would Spider-Woman be owned by Sony? She literally has nothing to do with Spider-man.

Anyways, I think that Skye is totally Jessica Drew. It makes sense, considering Drew's origin syncs up perfectly with Skye's. She was recruited into HYDRA under false pretenses, there's something weird going on with her parents, and we know that she was a valuable asset to SHIELD/HYDRA at one point.

And come on! She definitely looks like Spider-Woman.

They are NOT calling the twins miracles.
Strucker was referring to the age that they are living in.
The age of miracles.

@TheLibrarian ... and you know this for a fact how? Not to sound like an ass, but unless you have some inside information on the show that the rest of us do not have, then the only thing you can do is theorize like the rest of us. I couldn't care less if you don't agree with my theories, but to shoot them down as if you know more than us makes you come off as an ass.

@Dumegg We don't know if Strucker consider the twins as miracles in the age he was speaking of, but if my last theory happens to be right, the closes thing to an official name for the what the twins are is "miracles." So again, if my last theory is right, if I'm going to name what Skye is, "miracle" is the only choice I have, since they can't be mutants, and Inhumans have yet to be confirmed.

From everything I've ever heard, Marvel owns Spider-Woman. I definitely don't think she's Carol Danvers. She is just way too far from fitting the comic origins for Carol (she's not in the Air Force or NASA, and isn't blonde for that matter), and while Marvel might deviate a little, I don't think they would stray that far from the source material. And as others have pointed out, she is big, probably Marvel's best female hero, and will therefore probably be saved for movies.

Spider-Woman seems out for some of the same reasons, it would stray pretty far from the comic origins, unless it turns out that she was injected with a spider blood serum as a child or something. It is possible though. Maybe Shield discovered her right after being injected and placed in the chamber. She's showing odd traits. They might classify her as an 084, not really knowing what happened. She shows a few signs of powers, then they become dormant. Maybe the GH 325 will interact with the spider serum in her blood to finally activate her full powers. (I doubt all that, but it's not totally out of the realm of possibility.)

Brand does seem to fit the closest, except for a couple of things. The X-Men connection is the most obvious. I'm sure Marvel can use Brand, but since they're already using the twins, would they want another character with ties to X-Men? Plus, it's my understanding that Brand is very close to Fury in the comics, while Skye doesn't know him at all, at least as far as we know.

My own guess is that maybe they're going to make her into a slightly altered version of Brand, with some of the same characteristics and some new ones. She'll be called something else, not Brand. But that is just a total guess.

I'm tired of this debate, she's not Ms Marvel, she's definitely not Spider Woman and who gives a shit if she's Abigail Brand? I guess we'll just have to keep watching this terrible, piece of shit show to find out
PS Sorry Clark Gregg that you got yourself tied to the mast of a sinking ship.

She could still be Jessica Drew, that is not a justification. Actually, after the things you have said, i believe more that she is Spiderwoman. She was in a pressurized tube, she was injected with a serum... etc. His origin is just changed that's it. After reading this: Totally Spiderwoman.

Perhaps she's part of the Age of Miracles type thing. I think it would be better to keep watching even if the show isnt that good in order to be certain of who Skye is.

On another note, i think it was in my opinion a wasted opportunity to make Pepper Potts the new Ms Marvel in IM3 after she was effected extremis. I mean if people where able to accept a twist on The Mandarin by turning Aldrich Killian into The Mandarin why not have Ms Potts as Ms Marvel, it would save the studio from having to cast a new actress and save them the problem of developing a back story.

Kevin Feige said out right that they wanted to create a female super hero from scratch. He was asked about when/if we would get a Miss Marvel stand alone movie. His response was that they thought it would be really cool to develop a character from scratch. As much as anything AoS has served as a Skye

@Pheezmatic In the episode "seeds" the male agent, that helped save Skye, that Coulson and May tracked down, said around the lines of "They said she had powers of some sort, but when we got there, I didn't see anything."

Oh, and why do the twins and other humans with powers have to have some "official" name like "miracles" or "mutants" or "inhumans?" I don't think they necessarily do have to be called something. They could just use the word "gifted," that would seem to me to make the most sense. And if anyone ever asks how they got their "gifts," they could just say they were born with them, that it was some kind of mutation (yes, I am aware that Marvel can't use the word "mutant." But, I don't really see how Fox could keep them from ever referencing genetic mutations, because it is a natural phenomenon. And if they can't use "mutation" or "mutated," they might just be able to say that the twins were born with "altered" genes.)

The Baron and whoever was walking with him talked about "volunteers" dying, and the twins were the only ones still alive. So it sounds like instead of having natural abilities, Hydra may have performed some kind of experiment that gave them the abilities. (The other possibilities that I can think of is that Hydra unlocked natural abilities that hadn't surfacecd yet, or enhanced them. Or, and I just thought of this, the experiment was using Loki's sceptre to control people's minds without having Loki's Asguardian/Frost Giant abilities. Maybe they attempted it with other gifted people and it killed them somehow, maybe making them go crazy from having their minds messed with that way, or just shutting their brains down. Somehow Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver survived it.)

I would think maybe they might give her powers at some point. But I don't think they make her a really big name hero. I think likely. She might be an Inhuman hybrid.
