While a potential sixth season remains up in the air, Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. seems to be moving full steam ahead toward an endgame that looks to be quite monumental as the team finds themselves up against an all-out alien invasion.

It's uncertain whether the series will receive any sort of Infinity War tie-in next week, but based on everything we know right now, it seems highly unlikely as Coulson (Clark Gregg) and company battle against a whole different breed of alien that seem to be considerably less threatening than the Mad Titan Thanos and his Black Order.

Watch the new promo for episode nineteen, titled "All Roads Lead...," below:

In light of the Sokovia Accords, and with Hydra obliterated, S.H.I.E.L.D. has been legitimatized again and no longer needs to operate in the shadows. Since the world presumes that Coulson is dead, the organization needed a new Director (Jason O’Mara) to be the face of the organization. Coulson finds himself back in the role as an agent and teamed with Mack (Henry Simmons), and together they are tasked with tracking down and confirming the presence of Enhanced people, aka Inhumans. They have been trying to track down and capture Daisy (Chloe Bennet), aka Quake, who has gone rogue in an attempt to atone for sins from the past. But with the world believing that Daisy is a dangerous outlaw who has taken down banks and bridges, the new Director has no qualms about taking her down for good. Agent May (Ming-Na Wen) is tasked with training specialist strike teams, and Fitz (Iain De Caestecker) and Simmons (Elizabeth Henstridge) have taken a big step forward in their relationship. But with Simmons’ new promotion as Special Advisor to the Director in Science and Technology, Fitz, as well as her former team members, finds it hard to confide in or trust her since she’s now the Director’s confidant.

Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. features:
Clark Gregg as Phil Coulson
Ming-Na Wen as Melinda May
Chloe Bennet as Daisy Johnson/Quake
Iain De Caestecker as Leo Fitz
Elizabeth Henstridge as Jemma Simmons
Henry Simmons as Alphonso "Mack" MacKenzie
Natalia Cordova-Buckley as Elena "Yo-Yo" Rodriguez
Nick Blood as Lance Hunter

Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. returns with an all-new episode April 27

Wow, that was a crazy episode with some major twists; very good. For a while I was not sure Talbot would make it to the end of the episode, glad that he did. Really liked how they played Franklin Hall and Ian Quinn off one another, first with Creel and then with Ruby. And Ruby- wow, what a twist. First, I did not expect her to kill Werner von Strucker. That... that was unexpected. Not really sure how I feel about him dying, feel like there was more to his character, but boy was that brutal, especially when he was there to help Ruby. And Ruby herself dying, that was super far left field. I don't know what to think, I thought she would be "Graviton" until the end of the season. Perhaps the Graviton revives her? What happened at the end when there was the flash of gravitonium?

On a happier note, the scenes with Deke, Coulson, and Mack were freaking hilarious!! Those were golden.

Next week's episode looks freaking insane and epic.

The questions I have for this season that I hope get answered:

- Is Ruby really dead?
- What was that flash at the end of tonight's episode?
- Where's Anton? We know Hale has his head, are there anymore Anton LMDs? Anton also wanted to go into the chamber...

The rest of that gravitonium is going to come into play. Someone is going to become Graviton, it has to happen.

This week:

1. SHIELD (very good)
2. Black Lightning (very good)
3. The Flash (pretty good)
4. Arrow (pretty good)
5. Gotham (good)
6. Supergirl (okay)
7. Legion ("wtf")

i seriously didnt think ruby was going to die. i figured they would just about get through to her, then yoyo would aggravate the situation kinda like lincoln did with lash. she was cold blooded. and seriously, creel and talbot need a vacation. im thinking somewhere sunny where they can forget their problems.

it was awesome seeing may and daisy throw down. especially may, its been too long

@lemric - I completely forgot to write about that Daisy/May fight when they infiltrated Hale's base. That was freaking sick!! Awesome choreography.

Creel and Talbot need a beach. You know what they say...

This is a big ass ship! Next episode is exactly one day after Infinity War release, maybe those aliens are low level trehat and the outriders are the best minions in the ship ahusdhuasdhuasd

I don't know, but TWO alien invasions in the same period of time...

@cocaegelo - it might be helpful to remember that Infinity War was originally not going to be released until the week after next week's episode...

@cocaegelo - I would say next week of agents of sheild is less an invasion (like Avenegrs one and IW) and more a single alien ship visiting.

Surprisingly when you think about it alien landing on earth is quite a common phenomenon now in the MCU: all the asguradins visiting, yondu in Gotg1, the Kree, and then the Skrulls in Cap Marvel.

I also feel we are at the point were the timeline of AoS doesn't nescerally line up with the main films (unlike the earlier seasons with WS and AoU). They seem to be reducing the crossover aspect of this show wiht the films.
If I had to guess, I think they will say the events if IW will take place after season 5 (and before season 6; assuming it's renewed).

Ninja aliens by the way they move. The designs are nice.

It seems the gravitonium will just be acting as itself without anyone to wield it which makes it more unstable and dangerous. So the element itself will be a "villain" since the actor that played Franklin Hall isn't going to reprise the role nor Ian Quinn.

im wondering if those guys in the masks are these things robin drew back in episode 5

if so, who is dead?

HeavyMetal4Life - 4/20/2018, 7:44 PM
@lemric - that would be awesome if they tie back into that drawing

@HeavyMetal4Life - ive been waiting for them to show up ever since robin handed the picture to fitz. seems like the best point for them to appear

@lemric - As we've seen time and time again with SHIELD, they tend to not leave questions or plot points unanswered or unattended to. There was a reason they showed us that image...

With regards to who is dead, I'm not sure.

@lemric - Robin’s mom, with Daisy and May witnessing?
lemric
lemric - 4/21/2018, 3:33 AM
@DerekLake - she is brunette so its possible. she is also one of the more expendable characters
DerekLake
DerekLake - 4/21/2018, 3:43 AM
@lemric - And we know she’s going to die before the world ends because of the flashback to her and May riding out the initial gravity storm.

@lemric - the hair color suggests Simmons but there's no way Mutant Enemy show would kill of one of it's main characters just after they got married and are all happy and stuff, right?
