AGENTS OF S.H.I.E.L.D. Showrunner Suggests [SPOILER] May Have Survived That Heartbreaking Finale

Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. won't return until the summer of 2019, and it appears one character that seemed to have perished in the Season 5 finale may be back as well. Hit the jump to learn who it is.

The Season 5 finale of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. saw not one but three major characters bite the dust, and while the showrunners may have a way to bring back poor Fitz (Iain De Caestecker) it was unclear whether Coulson (Clark Gregg) or Graviton (Adrian Pasdar) could have survived their fates.

Now, Jed Whedon has addressed the possibility of Graviton returning after being blasted into space by Daisy Johnson (Chloe Bennet).

“This is Marvel, and even more, it’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.,” Whedon told Entertainment Weekly. “I know we see him floating in space, but he’s Graviton, so you never know.”

The producer then went on and seemed to suggest the character’s fate depends, to some degree, on how fans of the series feel.

“So if the rest of the fans feel the way you do, then chances are he might not be super dead,” the producer told the interviewer, who expressed their personal desire to see Adrian Pasdar come back.

Clearly, none of this is a definitive answer, but it certainly leaves the door open for the villain to come back and cause trouble for our favorite S.H.I.E.L.D. agents.

What do you folks make of this? Would you like to see Pasdar return as the unhinged and powerful Graviton? Make sure to comment below.

I enjoyed Graviton and I wouldn't mind them bringing him back.

how did each of them die?

@ODanil - Fitz was caught in an earthquake and crushed under concrete. However due to how he went to the future by way of Winter Soldiering himself, his living younger body is still on ice somewhere.

Coulson made a deal with the Ghost Rider last season and finally succumbed to the wound Loki gave him. He was going to live out his last few days (weeks) in Tahiti with May.

Graviton was thrown into space by Daisy and is drifting around up there.

@ODanil - Fitz was fantastic this season (and last season). It was a big shock but as MrDandy said, a frozen Fitz is out in space waiting to be found...

Agents Of Sheild was a show that didn’t grab me at first but the third season got my attention and for me it kept getting better and better after that.

Yes PLEASE. I was rooting for Talbot the whole way.

The dude spent his entire life in the service of others, trusted SHIELD and Coulson when everyone told him not to, at the risk of his career, reformed Creel, then was kidnapped, tortured and brainwashed because of that trust, came out of a 6 month long internment immediately ready to risk his life for Coulson and the team (who were partially responsible for his capture in the first place), gains powers, immediately decides to save the planet as soon as he learns there's a treat.

Then loses his mind because of the Gravitonium, and dies alone in space, despised as a supervillain by the planet he wanted to save, hated by his wife and feared by his son.

Talbot deserves a redemption arc more than anyone in the show's history.

Seeing as how someone as strong as Corvus died in space, star lord, who was half celestial, barely survived a second in space, and yondu died In space I think it's some what of a stretch to say graviton did not die. That would make him Thor strong.

@MyCoolYoung - graviton hinted that he needed to be in a spaceship to breathe, when he headed back to earth a few episodes ago

@MyCoolYoung - graviton is one of the more powerful baddies out there. Being merged with gravitonium may help him survive

@Goldboink - I saw. With the stuff that he can do he was Corvus like it would be a little weird but not out of the realm of possibility

Talbot should join Dr. Hall, Quinn, Creel, et al as a personality within the gravitonium. His body which needed air is, imo, pffft.

I feel like Talbot didn’t get a proper ending for who he was pre-Graviton, so seeing Adrian back would be great

FWIW it never crossed my mind that Coulson wouldn't be back eventually but its definitely sounding iffy. Anyone hear when they start shooting S6 ?

My opinion, they played up Coulson not returning by making Daisy the new leader. Second, Talbot is infused with gravitonium which seems like a "living" element that could easily survive in space.

Fitz will return, I find it staggering how people don't pay attention, team goes forward in time, fitz stays and starts plan with the synth/alien thing who i forget the name of, goes into cryo for said plan. team comes back 6 MONTH LATER with the help of the fitz who was in cryo THE WHOLE TIME, so during the last episodes of this season there were TWO fitz's one doing the stuff and one in space in cryo having a nap until the events of the lighthouse station. Fitz is coming back because timey whimey, thats also why Deek the Deek story line is still open, yes his room was empty but he said he was going out into the world, so there is the possibility of him coming back in some form later on
