Holding Out For A Hero? MARVEL'S AGENTS OF S.H.I.E.L.D. Ratings Continue To Slip

Despite now being five episodes into its first season, the ratings for Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. still haven't levelled out as viewing figures continue to drop on a week by week basis. Is the ABC series destined for one season only? Read on for details!

Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. may have had the biggest drama premiere of the past four years when it debuted last month, but the record number of people who tuned in for the pilot clearly haven't been impressed enough over the past few weeks to stick around. Last night, the fifth episode had 7.1 million viewers and a 2.6 rating among adults 18-49. This is by no means a bad result for that slot, but the numbers are falling each week. After starting off with 3.3, it went to 2.9, 2.8 and now a 2.6. At this point, ratings just haven't levelled out (which is unusual for a new series in its fifth week). ABC have already given Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. a full season order, but if these numbers continue to fall, it may not have much of a future.

His is normal for a wheadon show. People just don't stick around to watch it develop. All his shows started out rough and got a lot better and they were all canceled cause of ratings.

Agents of Shield is amazing. I don't see how people don't like this show and why they haven't tuned in. Maybe audiences were expecting more from The Avengers? I don't know but this show has a lot of potential and is better than that piece of crap that people call, Arrow.

Yea I agree. The first one was decent. The second one was in the background on my computer. By the third I couldent even make it all the way through.

Very generic boring show.

Sucks
Maybe this'll push Marvel to change the show's tone and direction

they need to add in B-list marvel characters to get people more interested.

-Rage
-Nighthawk
-Terror Inc.
-Moon Knight
-Man Thing
-Wonderman
-The New Warriors

Or they can introduce A-list characters so that they can transition to big screen stuff.

What's the point of a Marvel TV show if you're not gonna have Marvel characters in it???

I have given up on it...sadly I thought we'd get a cool show about shield. I get Wheadon's background is in Buffy, by why does this 'Team' have 3 'hipsters' in it who just whine and argue.

Fitz and Simmons are the Jar Jar Binks of TV shows their scenes are unwatchable.

There are flashes of greatness but not enough to stick with it

Not surprising. I love the show but I can see why people don't like it.

I honestly think Marvel should stick to Movies though.

I like the show but it needs B-list heroes or at minimum the C-list.
Cloak and Dagger
Heroes for Hire
Simon Williams aka Wonder Man
Man Thing
The Power Pack
Jessica Drew aka Spider Woman
IDK but something has to be done because 'Scorch' wasn't cutting it last night.

And ARROW is way more interesting. If Marvel does a DareDevil in the same tone of Arrow then they'll have something.

Finally Joy Luck Club showed a little skin and looked pretty good for an old gal. Like the Van chic....something hot about her.

Not surprised as the show is still trying to find it's own footing, it is trying to support itself with so many hints and plot threads from the MCU.

It is cool and all to have a cohesive universe, but the show needs it's own identity and not the plot threads from the films.

Cloak and Dagger are mutants, right? They can't be used by Marvel Studios.
