Well we all knew one character from earth-616 was showing up in this episode of Agents of Shield (Raina), but we were treated to a second one. Scorch. The character with Pyrokinesis powers turns out to be from the comics.

Tommy Ng is a former criminal with next to no back story shares the name Scorch with Chan from the TV show. He is in 2 only issues as a character, night thrasher vol 1 issue 13 and 14. There he takes on Night Thrasher. He may not be the same human name, or the same back story, but he has the same powers and villain name. He is also a Mutant, as is Raina. So it may be a fact that Marvel DOES have rights to Mutants on the TV screen. But who knows for sure.

He may be a very minor character in the comics. Very obscure, but at the very lease we should take this as another character put on the show. A minor one that we would never have seen, and hey that's what we were asking with this show right? More characters from the comics? Well there you go, even if minor, its nice to see another comic book character on the screen.

@durty True true. But still fun to see, I think a lot of the reason we don't see some of the more known characters is the fact that they don't want to "Waste" a character they may use in a future movie at one point.

Marvel might not still have mutant rights on tv (back when mutant X was on, FOX tried to sue Marvel because FOX has rights to live action mutants)

@NPaMusic, what do you expect for a character that only appeared in 2 issues of a comic back in '94?

Did you happen to notice the writer on those two issues? A young scribe by the name of Dan Slott.
