For a very long time, the vast majority of actresses have sadly been relegated to being little more than love interests in comic book movies off all varieties. That's beginning to change now and female characters have always fared better on TV. Sure, we still get our fair share of love interests but most have played actual heroes and villains or characters the lead needs to help them become heroes.

No matter the roles they've taken on, though, a lot of very beautiful actresses have played many different characters in the Marvel, DC Comics, and various other universes over the years and have delivered some incredible performances in the process. What you'll find here then is a look at who we believe to be the all-time most beautiful stars of pretty much every comic book TV shows ever.

We know you're all fans of the photoshoots we frequently share on the site too so we've handpicked some of the hottest shots of each of these stunning actresses and provided details on both the movies they've been in and what might come next for them. So, keep reading to see these incredible photos but be warned that some of these could be considered NSFW (so make sure your boss isn't near).

To view the list of photos in its entirety, simply click on the VIEW LIST (ONE PAGE) button below.

Shantel VanSanten

Patty Spivot's role in The Flash was far too brief, especially as she was such a great love interest for Barry Allen. She's unlikely to return as the Scarlet Speedster is about to get hitched!

Chloe Bennet

While Bennet's path to becoming Quake may have been more than a little convoluted, she's now arguably the best part of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. and fans would love to see her on the big screen as well.

Lauren Cohan

A mainstay of The Walking Dead, we know that no one is safe in the apocalyptic drama but if AMC dares to ever kill off Maggie, it's fair to say that they'll be faced with a lot of unhappy fans!

Katie Cassidy

Fans were livid when Black Canary was killed off in Arrow but at least Cassidy is able to still appear on The CW series as her villainous Earth-2 doppelganger, the evil Black Siren.

Morena Baccarin

Baccarin shot to fame after starring in Firefly and the Deadpool star has taken on a leading role in Gotham since then and even lent her voice to a few episodes of The Flash as well.

Adrianne Palicki

That Mockingbird series may have crashed and burned before it even got out of the gate (just like Palicki's planned turn as Wonder Woman) but she needs to come back to Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. ASAP.

Hayley Atwell

After being introduced as Peggy Carter in Captain America: The First Avenger, Atwell made the leap to the small screen for Agent Carter, a short-lived ABC series which ran for two seasons.

Rachel Keller

After a show stealing turn in Fargo, Keller made the leap to Legion and continued to impress in a huge way. A breakout role for the actress, we'll hopefully see her on the big screen before too long.

Élodie Yung

Yung's version of Elektra was much closer to her comic book counterpart that Jennifer Garner's and while her death scene was a tad underwhelming, The Defenders mostly managed to redeem that.

Ruth Negga

Negga is an incredible actress and Preacher is definitely lucky to have her, especially as her big screen career has started taking off in a big way in recent years. Simply put, she's the perfect Tulip!

Lesley-Ann Brandt

Say what you will about the quality of Lucifer but the show has a great supporting cast, especially in terms of its female leads. Brandt is a big part of that as Maze in the Fox series.

Amy Gumenick

Cupid may be crazy but she's been one of Arrow's most consistently entertaining guest stars as someone who started off obsessed with Green Arrow before becoming a member of Task Force X.

Natalia Cordova-Buckley

Best known for playing Elena "Yo-Yo" Rodriguez in Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., Cordova-Buckley has so far proved to be a standout character in the ABC series as the powerful hero.

Emily Bett Rickards

Felicity is an extremely divisive character, mostly because of her relationship with Oliver Queen in Arrow. Despite that, there are plenty of viewers who do consider themselves fans of "Olicity."

Mercedes Masohn

This Swedish-American actress has been around since pretty much day one in Fear The Walking Dead and is a character who it's now impossible to imagine the show without.

Anne Dudek

Following the shocking death of H.R. in the penultimate episode of The Flash's third season, we haven't seen more of scientist Tracey Brandt but fans remain optimistic that could change down the line.

Kim Engelbrecht

We're only just beginning to learn more about The Mechanic in The Flash but a recent episode revealed more about The Thinker's wife and the role she played in his transformation.

Juliana Harkavy

A relatively new addition to the Arrowverse, Harkavy has done a great job of establishing herself as the new Black Canary and with a cool costume, the future is looking bright for this hero.

Peyton List

Wentworth Miller's time in the Arrowverse is nearing its end but here's hoping we get to see more of his sister, the Golden Glider somewhere down the line as she was a lot of fun as well.

Summer Glau

Best known by many fans for her role in Firefly, Glau made the leap to the Arrowverse when she suited up as Isabel Rochev, a.k.a. Ravager. It's just a shame her role was so short-lived!

Rosario Dawson

The connective tissue which brought together The Defenders, we don't know when we'll next see Dawson on the small screen but fans are thankful she wasn't killed off in that ensemble series.

Alycia Debnam-Carey

As Alicia in Fear The Walking Dead, Debnam-Carey is arguably one of the show's best characters and it's easy to see why she's survived this long as she's become a bona fide badass.

Floriana Lima

Lima was awesome in Supergirl as Maggie Sawyer but once the actress decided to leave the series, the writers were forced to find a way to bring her and Alex Danvers' relationship to an abrupt end.

Rachael Taylor

She may not be suiting up as Hellcat any time soon (at least not as far as we know) but Taylor is still a great part of Jessica Jones' world and will be seen again in season two next year.

Melissa Benoist

Supergirl took a while it find its footing and the third season has been firing on all cylinders. Benoist is perfect for the role and now the Girl of Steel is on The CW, she's really been able to soar.

Jaimie Alexander

The Thor actress may not be best known for starring in NBC's Blindspot but bear in mind that she's also shown up as Sif in Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Will the Asgardian return in Avengers: Infinity War, though?

Megalyn Echikunwoke

She may not be the Vixen who we get to spend time with in Legends of Tomorrow but Echikunwoke was the first version of the character we met and has starred in an animated series.

Caity Lotz

Lotz started off in Arrow but after a brief romance with Oliver Queen, she's become one of the DC TV Universe's first openly gay characters as the captain of The Waverider in Legends of Tomorrow.

Kristin Kreuk

Smallville may have lost the plot with Lana Lang when the show infected her with Kryptonite but the actress did a lot of great work over the years even if her ending was horrendous.

Lauren German

Lucifer doesn't have a particularly large audience but it's managed to stay the course on Fox and it's easy to see why German's Chloe Decker has become such a fan-favourite part of the show.

Odette Annable

A new addition to Supergirl, Annable's character is currently on the path to becoming the villainous Reign, a Worldbreaker who will clash with the Girl of Steel as season three continues.

Jessica Henwick

Iron Fist may not have been as good as most of us hoped but Henwick's Colleen Wing emerged as a fan-favourite and fans are now hoping we'll get to see much more of her moving forward.

Rachel Skarsten

Skarsten recently appeared in Reign as Queen Elizabeth I but bear in mind that she also took on the role of Black Canary alongside other female heroes in Birds of Prey

Teri Hatcher

Hatcher played Lois Lane in Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman, a surprisingly good series which made for entertaining viewing when it aired back in the 1990s.

Katrina Law

Did you forget that Nyssa al Ghul is married to Oliver Queen in Arrow? It hasn't been mentioned for a while and the character hasn't been seen since taking on her sister Talia in battle.

Elizabeth Rodriguez

The Orange is the New Black star didn't stick around for too long in Fear The Walking Dead but made quite the impact and also showed up in Logan a little earlier this year.

Ciara Renée

Hawkgirl flew away with Hawkman at the end of Legends of Tomorrow's first season and hasn't been seen since. Renee did a great job during the time we spent with her on The Waverider, though!

Sonequa Martin-Green

Just when Martin-Green's Sasha was beginning to gain a real fan-following in The Walking Dead, she was killed off because the actress landed a lead role in Star Trek: Discovery on CBS!

Chyler Leigh

As Alex Danvers in Supergirl, Leigh has done some amazing work, particularly in season two when she came out to her sister and family and embarked on her first lesbian relationship.

Simone Missick

Missick's work in Luke Cage was excellent as the tough as nails Misty Knight and with season two of the show set to introduce her bionic arm, fans have a lot to be excited about here.

Katee Sackhoff

Sackhoff has only made the one appearance in The Flash so far but with her swearing revenge on Killer Frost the last time we saw her, Amulet will be back at some point in season four.

Alexandra Breckenridge

Poor old Jessie had a gruesome ending in The Walking Dead but she made her mark as Rick's new love interest and as the mother of a son who was endlessly irritating in the series.

Danielle Panabaker

Caitlin Snow has always been one of the best parts of The Flash but her transformation into Killer Frost has definitely been the right direction to take the character in during recent seasons.

Laura Vandervoort

Vandervoort played Supergirl for years in Smallville and as she could fly and wore a costume (of sorts), she was more of a Superman before Clark Kent ever considered finally suiting up.

Christian Serratos

Rosita hasn't had an awful lot to do in The Walking Dead's current eighth season but that will hopefully change soon as "All-Out War" is beginning to drag despite some standout episodes.

Candice Patton

Iris West's career as a journalist in The Flash didn't last particularly long as she's instead taken on a much larger role as part of Team Flash helping Barry Allen take on a variety of metahumans.

Cassidy Freeman

When Michael Rosenbaum left Smallville, a new Luthor was brought in in the form of Tess Mercer, a character who didn't make the biggest of impacts but definitely had some memorable moments!

Jessica Camacho

Cisco? Really? Regardless of Gypsy's taste in men, she's become one of The Flash's best supporting characters and the recent appearance of her father (Danny Trejo) was great fun.

Allison Mack

Chloe Sullivan is one of those characters fans either love or hate but regardless of whether you found her loveble or endlessly irritating, Mack was almost always entertaining in Smallville.

Dina Meyer

Meyer has starred in a huge number of TV shows and movies over the years but you may remember her as Barbara Gordon/Oracle/Batgirl in Birds of Prey before it was cancelled.

Katie McGrath

McGrath joined Supergirl in season two and Lena Luthor has since shown that not all members of that family are as bad as Lex! A villainous turn has been teased more than once, however.

Deborah Ann Woll

Karen Page's story arc in Netflix's corner of the Marvel Cinematic Universe has become a little silly (from a receptionist to an expert journalist in no time at all) but she was great in Daredevil!

Jessica De Gouw

It's been far too long since we've seen The Huntress in Arrow and there's been no mention of her making a return in the near future. That's a shame but here's hoping things change!

Violett Beane

Don't tell Harry she's on this list! Beane has shown up in The Flash sporadically and Jesse Quick is now protecting Earth-2 alongside another group of unidentified superheroes.

Serinda Swan

Inhumans may be one of the worst superhero TV shows ever made but there's no denying that Swan's Medusa was...well, not great, but she did at least serve as a great Zatanna in Smallville

Michelle Ang

Ang was the lead character in AMC's surprisingly brilliant Fear the Walking Dead: Flight 462 spinoff series and it's easy to see why she was nominated for an Emmy for her work there.

Elizabeth Henstridge

Simmons has been through an awful lot in Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. over the years but her character remains one of the most enjoyable parts of The CW series and it's easy to see why.

Aubrey Plaza

Plaza's role in Legion definitely defied expectations and she managed to make this zany show even crazier, proving that she's one of the most capable and reliable actresses on television today.

Angélica Celaya

Constantine may have been cancelled relatively quickly but some big changes were made during those early episodes and Celaya was made the new female lead of the surprisingly good series.

Ming-Na Wen

One of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.'s biggest badasses, Wen has been one of the best parts of this show from day one and the signs are all pointing to that continuing to be the case.

Ashley Scott

Best known for her role in shows like Dark Angel and Jericho, Scott may be familia to some comic book fans for starring as The Huntress in the short-lived Birds of Prey series.

Emily Kinney

Poor old Beth didn't have a particularly nice end in The Walking Dead (does anybody?) but at least we got to see make a return to the world of comic books in both Arrow and The Flash

Eartha Kitt

Batman's second Catwoman, Kitt may have had a successful and iconic career as a singer but the decision to cast an African American actress in a role like this at the time was groundbreaking.

Rose McIver

iZombie has never really taken off in terms of ratings but it does well on The CW and much of that has to be attributed to McIver, an incredibly likeable and easy to watch actress.

Alanna Masterson

A newly created character who didn't appear in The Walking Dead comic books, Tara has proven herself to be one of the show's most likeable survivors and a badass on more than one occasion.

Julie Newmar

A lot of actresses have played Catwoman over the years but Newmar was the first and even in this camp series from the 60s, she managed to do so in a very sexy and memorable fashion.

Maisie Richardson-Sellers

The DC TV's second Vixen, Richardson-Sellers may have ended up being cut from Star Wars: The Force Awakens but as this member of the JSA, she's proved J.J. Abrams made a mistake.

Vanessa Hudgens

On the surface, Powerless had the potential to be truly great but bizarre creative decisions pretty much killed this one and it's fair to say that Hudgens definitely deserved a lot better than this.

Willa Holland

Thea Queen is currently in a coma on Arrow, probably because the show's writers have run out of ideas for the character. Despite that, her stint as Speedy was definitely fun to watch.

Malese Jow

Linda Park wasn't given much to do in The Flash but given her ties to Wally West in the comic books, it is, of course, feasible that Jow could return to The CW series down the line.

Danai Gurira

Michonne has pretty much taken Andrea's place in The Walking Dead and that's no bad thing. Gurira has also found success on the big screen with a lead role in the upcoming Black Panther movie.

Andrea Brooks

Brooks has only a very minor role in Supergirl as Eve Teschmacher but her scenes never fail to be memorable. Unfortunately, the show no longer spends a huge amount of time in CatCo!

Erica Durance

A fan-favourite Lois Lane after appearing as the character in Smallville, Durance has now found another small screen DC role playing Supergirl's mother in the current CW series.

Lynda Carter

The first actress to suit up as Wonder Woman, Carter may not have played Diana Prince for long but it says a lot that the vast majority of fans still view her as the definitive Amazon warrior.

Krysten Ritter

An argument could be made that Jessica Jones is the best of Marvel and Netflix's TV shows and much of that is down to the fact that Ritter is so utterly brilliant as the snarky private eye.
