Together they investigate the new, the strange, and the unknown across the globe, protecting the ordinary from the extraordinary. Coulson's team consists of Agent Grant Ward (Brett Dalton), highly trained in combat and espionage; Agent Melinda May (Ming-Na Wen), expert pilot and martial artist; Agent Leo Fitz (Iain De Caestecker), brilliant engineer; and Agent Jemma Simmons (Elizabeth Henstridge), genius bio-chemist. Joining them on their journey into mystery is new recruit and computer hacker, Skye (Chloe Bennet).

Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., Marvel’s first television series, is from executive producers Joss Whedon (Marvel's The Avengers, Buffy the Vampire Slayer), Jed Whedon & Maurissa Tancharoen, who co-wrote the pilot (Dollhouse, Dr.Horrible's Sing-Along Blog). Jeffrey Bell (Angel, Alias) and Jeph Loeb (Smallville, Lost, Heroes) also serve as executive producers. Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. is produced by ABC Studios and Marvel Television."

El Mayimbe was not a fan, gave it a "Meh, pass". But that's his opinion.

Meh. It's a new show, and even with it's tied to the MCU, they need to establish characters and the world they're a part of. On both accounts, the pilot excelled; people writing it off might be in for a wake-up call where we're lauding it as the best show on TV.

If anyone hates "Arrow" but thought S.H.I.E.L.D was good, your a child. Show was a solid 5/10. And thats with Whedon writing and directing. If he's supposed to be the "marvel" golden boy and that's all he could come up with. Series is in serious trouble.

And I'm not a marvel or DC fanboy. Just an observer. But Arrow has this series hands down. Cant wait till season 2. Bring on Barry Allen!

Snark is so much funnier when they are mocking a very successful pilot.

It is still a pilot. No pilots (sans Breaking Bad) are ever amazing

they should only use a pilot episode to sell the show to the studio
otherwise, when a show is greenlit, refilm the first episode and bring it up to snuff so it doesnt have such a strange feeling.
all-in-all it was awesome and cant wait to see how the fresh budget helps the look and feel of the rest of the series.

you have to remember that everyone involved in a pilot has low expectations. it comes with the territory.
thankfully we may see a bit more heart in the actors next time around, and the show should do well

@Supes17 Very good point. A good pilot is rare but not impossible. This was so-so. Not bad but certainly not stellar. Will have to wait and see if they improve.

Yup Arrow hands down!!

Joss got lucky with the Avengers. The advantage he has now, His Avenger 2 could be the worst pile of shit and it will still score huge at the box office! So the pressure is off.

THis show exists in the MCU,not all over the place like the DC movies and shows. All the Avengers references, the after affect of the Chitari invasion. It all fits.

I loved it. My whole family could watch it. It was fun and had a lot of entertaining action. One of the best choreographed fight scenes on tv with that kitchen scene. Looking forward to the season.

Big boy pants are on. Okay, now I can continue. Agents of s.h.i.e.l.d. Huge let down. Coolest part was the fireplace fight. Other than that, just a typical watered down, cheap budget, tv show, bad gags, dry "comedy" that has "loose" connections w/ the big marvel movies. I'll pass. And yes, I understand that this might be "more" connected to Marvel then what "arrow" is to DCCU. However, I dont care since the pilot was shit. Good day sir.

well, I loved this pilot, I love Arrow
I think the 2 shows give fans what they want... so they bitch about it

I love how haters are all over this site comparing it to Arrow already. Arrow has already been established as far as story and characters. AoS has had only ONE episode!!!! No one knows how it will turn out but the pilot was a good start. Instead of bashing everything Marvel and saying Arrow is awesome why don't you trolls give it a chance?
40oz
40oz - 9/25/2013, 10:21 AM
@hulkbusterNYC, people hated on the first episode of Arrow and wrote that series off their list. Josh Wilding is a prime example. He HATED Arrow. The pilot for Shield was mediocre at best. However, I do realize not only seeing 1 episode of series and stop watching it is the same as watching the first 10 minutes of a movie. However, second episode better be something special or im out lol.
