Excuse me if i have grammar or spelling mistakes, i don’t live in an English-Speaking country.

First, i want to say that i don’t like complaining about the bad things of cbm movies. For example a few things in TASM or the destruction in Man of Steel. Because i don’t feel that those things are that important to make me not enjoy the movie. I don’t want to live sad thinking that these movies are not perfect. They are made to entretain us and they certainly do. I don’t like thinking about the wrong things of movies that are cool. But this time it’s an exception because i don’t like this show at all and i personally think it sucks. If you like it, it’s okay, i respect it, but respect my opinion aswell.

Some people say that it sucks because they don’t have superpowers, but we don’t need superpowers, this is supposed to be a show about non-superpowered characters. The main problem of this show is that there are to many characters that are not field agents. There are six members and only three are field agents (if you count Coulson). So you have two scientists and one hacker. What is Skye going to do against an enemy? “I’m gonna hack you!” I am not saying that they shouldn’t be on the show but they should be secondary characters of the team.

When they have to go on a mission, they can only call Ward, Melinda-May and Coulson. They are making the whole concept of shield wrong. They are the most powerful organization in the world and you can only provide the team with those two people and Coulson for the field? And i am not even talking about the comics, in the MCU itself it is shown how powerful they are. They don’t look like shield agents, they look like “Guys in suits with guns”. Hell, half of the team does not even hold a gun so it’s not even that. They don’t look like shield at all. They are doing the whole concept incorrect. It’s like: “Random people in the MCU”. That’s what it is, and i don’t like it. Plus, if you are dealing with something as important as Extremis and supersoldiers, don’t you think more people should be on the case? You are shield! You can call lots and lots of backup! This just really itches me.

Skye: So they find this girl on the street, they see that she is a very good hacker and then suddenly she is hired. She is now a shield agent. Just like that. Anybody can be a shield agent. And she always is in the field no matter what. That’s because they only have three field agents and if the rest are not in the field then they wouldn’t appear that much but in real life it doesn’t make any sense. That annoys me a lot. Marvel, if you want the main characters to be in the scene of the action, give us some more field agents. I remember some episodes where they gave us the excuse that she had to be in the action scene because she needed to be close to the enemy to hack something. But you are telling me that she is so good at hacking that you found her on the street, even if she was totally unknown and random to you but you still hired her because of her good talent. So if she is that good at it, why the hell does she has to be close to the enemy? Isn’t she supposed to be the best of the best? Do you think those guys at the computers from the helicarrier need to be close to the enemy?

Then Skye wants to be a field agent. And how does she plan on doing that? Training hitting a boxing sac (Awfully, actually). First of all, a computer agent does not turn into a field agent that easy, probably in real life the FBI/CIA won’t let them. Secondly, do you think the Black Widow became a badass hitting a boxing sac on her own? She had to train a lot. Like Bruce Wayne in Batman Begins. It’s very ridiculous. That thing was taken out of a cartoon show, i think. There are so many things that are not realistic. Like for example: Shield (yes, you heared right, SHIELD) finds this girl that’s really good at computers. And apparently she is the best of the best, never seen before. Because you know, in real life, if you want to work with the FBI/CIA with computers you have to start very young, as a 9 year old, because that’s how you stand out and you get hired. So instead of giving her the most difficult objectives that no hacker can do, they get her on a plane where she can work from time to time, only when there’s a threat and the rest of the time she can rest and do whatever she wants.

Agent Ward: Nobody cares about him. His lines are very boring and he has the most cliché backstory ever. “I couldn’t save my brother” or something like that. He is not interesting. Most of the cases, the problem is not the actor, because poor guy, you know? It’s not his fault. The thing is, the script is very bad and they don’t make the characters interesting. It’s so forced, it’s like when you are doing this story for school and then you realize you want to keep writing and you want to make the characters interesting but really it’s shit.

Melinda May: Suposely she is the mysterious character of the show. Like the one with a mysterious backstory that nobody knows about. The kind of character that’s the reason you would die to see the next episode. She is an OK character, and i don’t know about you but i find her a little boring and certainly not badass.

And don’t even get me started on the non-comicbook characters. Nobody cares about the villains that this show is giving us. They are giving us extremis and i am okay with it, but we need something else than that. I am waiting for Graviton but i don’t expect much from him. I guess he will not even wear a costume. He will some gear, he will have some beard and there will be some seconds of fight. Like Doomsday vs Clark in Smallville. I expect something like that.

Thank you for reading, i am BaronZemo.

As a fan of Marvel, I stuck with this show, despite how much it bored me and how bad some of the writing was. Do you know when I started to appreciate the show? During the last 15 mins of the last episode. That says alot. I hated that I had to wait that long before the show actually had a decent plot or an over-arcing story.

I hope it keeps that up with the rest of the series.

From what we know of Daredevil's Netflix show, with Drew Goddard being signed on to write and direct the first episode and then oversee the rest, and knowing he's a huge fan of the character, I'm sure that'll be an improvement.

However, I think the title and teaser are just flame bait, so in case you want to avoid people calling you out on that, I'd change them if I were you.

The show needs to be better yeah, I like it though, just not up there with ARROW or WALKING DEAD which is a shame.

Also SHIELD needs a b-grade spandexed Supervillain in an episode yo :p

This show could have been way better. The only thing keeping
Me watching the show is, i want to know whats up with Coulson.

I started watching Arrow Last month. Now thats a Great show.
I like how the producers arn't afraid to use their characters on the show.

"Skye: So they find this girl on the street, they see that she is a very good hacker and then suddenly she is hired. She is now a shield agent. Just like that. Anybody can be a shield agent."

Um, dude, that's kinda what shield does. Find a person with a "gift" and get them to work for the good guys, or protect the world from the bad ones. I think what the show was TRYING to do is recruit Skye a lot like the Avengers were recruited. The team's ongoing mission is to be sort of first contact for new break outs and other extraordinary objects, etc. The show just does a horrible job showing why Skye deserves be there.

That said, I actually agree with most of your points. Correct me if I'm wrong, but to sum up what I think most of your editorial was getting at is that the show lacks focus. That's THE biggest problem with the show, IMHO.
MoonDoggyX
MoonDoggyX - 12/26/2013, 11:12 AM
I have to admit, though, that I watch the show every week. I think the show has all the necessary ingredients to be great right now. When the storytelling gets focused and dramatic, like the episode with the alien virus and Simmons gets infected, the cast really shows their worth. Unfortunately, the show is 90% loose and comedic which dumbs down the actors performances.

@Baron Zemo
WOW, Where to begin.
There is no way for anyone who likes the show to explain to anyone else who have already made up their minds, but I can say that you have missed the very premise of the show.
Coulson got hurt and when he came back, he was given his own team, to chose as he likes, therefore Big SHIELD, as it is referred to in the show, it not what this show is about. Fury pretty much confirmed this on the second episode (0.8.4).
Mainstream SHIELD agents, who so many cry about not being part of this show, would not be chosen by Coulson because he has his own agenda, mainly to get away from redtape and to chose thei own missions, as explained by Coulson when talking to May in the pilot episode. There has been times when May has wanted to call in to HQ (Big SHIELD) only to be stopped by Coulson. It is clear that he does not feel the same way about them as he once did, evidenced by the agent telling Coulson that is wasn't like him to disobey a direct oreder from HQ, saying that Coulson has changed. Coulsons response was simple, Get Used To It (F.Z.Z.T).
Issues with Skye:
I am not sure why it is so hard for people to understand Skye. Coulson tells Ward why she is aboard on the pilot episode. They know nothing about her, even with all of their access, everything about her has been completely wiped out and if she can do that with just the rig in her van, imagine what she can do with the tools she would have working with them. Skye is not an agent and no one has referred to her as one. She currently holds the position of consultant, just like Stark is a consultant.
The only time Skye has been in the field was when she gained access to Ian Quinns party for hackers (The Asset). She had to be inside in order to shut down his security and allow the two agents, Ward and Coulson entry into the compound. The only other time a tech has been in the field it was mandated by Big SHIELD (The Hub).

I enjoy the show very very much. It isn't about the action, of which there is some, but more about building the team dynamic and establishing them as a team, which has been done very well. I am not sure why people don't like the characters but that is a personal thing and opinions and ideas differ. I have no issues with any of them.
Marvel's Agents of SHIELD is a good show with lots of roon to grow, just like almost evey other show on the air. You don't have to like it and you certainly don't have to watch it, but if you don't like it, you should probably just forget about it instead of writing long articles about it. As I have said before. I am an American Football fan, (Miami Dolphins) and I hate the New York Jets and the Notre Dame Fighting Irish, but I would never waste my time going to a site to tell them how much I hate them, I would much rather simply ignore their existence, but I am an old man and this generation seems to feel differently about expressing themselves.

The name of the show is Agents of Shield and 97% of the characters
On the show have been made up just for the show. But isn't the whole
Idea of doing a tv show base on marvel comics is to actually USE the
Characters from marvel. The writers and producers are completely
Missing the boat. Michael Peterson should be Victor Alverez aka
Powerman . The punks with the Asgardian stick should be the
Wrecking Crew. The no name guy phasing between realms
Should be the villian Ghost.
Power Man could be recruited as agent Victor Alverez and have
A few new bad guys to regularly apear on the show.

Instead, Marvel farts in our face and tells us its windy.

Wow those are some very solid points there. That is exactly where Marvel has missed the boat, they had a chance to do something very special and they screwed it up. Now granted maybe they did have plans in advance to introduce some actual characters and story lines from the comics. Starting off this way may have some permanent damage to the ratings and the fan base for season 2, though I will continue to watch season one hoping for some great things.

I agree with both the article and with Dumegg.

The show misses the point and every oportunity it has to introduce a character they fail at it. I want teases of characters. Give me "C", "D", and "F" level characters that will never ever ever make it into the movies.

It's like THE OFFICE WITH GUNS except the puns and jokes are stretched thin.

That works in a 2 hour movie but an elongated series will have to find its identity at some point. Is it trying to be funny, serious, poignant? Can't just mix random ingredients and make a kickass gravy.

Pick an identity for crying out loud.

Ofcourse I'm in the minority. There are over 300 million people in the states alone and the show averages around 6 million, so everyone who likes any show is in the minority. But seriously, Marvel's Agents of SHIELD is not dealing with Big SHIELD and is not based on the comics, it is based on the Marvel Cenimatic Universe.
I get it, some of you cannot get behind the concept of a new teeam put together by Coulson himself. You want wht you are familiar with and the fact that Marvel/Disney did not give you what you wanted makes you angry and has turned you off of the new show. I get that.
For those of us who can get the concept and actually like the new team, we are enjoying the show and there are milions of us. The majority of the fans of Marvel's Agents of SHIELD probably never come to this or any of the comicbook oriented sites or gather their information from the internet, so all of the hate and venom that is heap upon this good show by the comicbook fanboys is meaningless to us.
MarvelousAgentX
MarvelousAgentX - 12/27/2013, 6:47 AM
@Dumegg
I understand what you are saying but the writers, producers and studios had other ideas. This is not that show. You don't like that they went with a brand new team and don't like the idea that differs from your concept of what the show should have been about, that's fine, everyone is entitiled to have their opinion.

That being said, if you hate the show because it is not using the stories from the comics you may as well never tune in again. If the concept of a brand new team, put together by Coulson for his very own reasons, bothers you, you may as well never tune in again and if that's the case, once you have said your piece, will you let it go or will you chime in everytime there is an article about Agent's of SHIELD? Do you, like others on this site, go out of your way to seek out anything with the name of this show in it to vent and tell everyone that views that article how much you hate it? Will you go on and on to anyone and everyone, like many on this site, about how the show sucks and you dislike it and how Marvel/Disney has screwed it's fans? Is that who you are? The same as so mnay here, whose names show up in every article for SHIELD? really, that's you?

@ marvelousagentx - i guess my short answers to you questions is NO.
I dont need the same team as in the comics, and i really dont have a
Problem with the roster of the show. My only beef is that there were some golden
Opertunities to pull some of their B and C level characters into the show.
Characters that most likely would never make it to the big screen anyway.

I will continue to watch the show because im a big marvel fan and have
Hopes that they might get it together for season 2.
I dont need a story line that matches the shield story line from the books,
So they can go in any direction they like. I just asking for a marvel tv show
With some of the characters from the books.

MarvelousAgentX - 12/27/2013, 8:41 AM
@Dumegg,
Thanks for a reasoned and logical answer. I can respect that. I think you will be happier with the second half of this season. Remember they originally only had 13 episodes and when they were given the full pick-up, they were able to expand on alot of things. I believe they will be more Marvel-centric going forward, but most of the show will be more working with the group dynamic. The only thing is that I hope that they pick up the pace more. Not for me, I am happy with the way it is going, but I understand some of the audience have shorter attention spans and need that rush of answers and action. I trust that they have had a plan and they are sticking with it.
Cheers mate.

I must say, this comment section for this editorial has been the most mature and constructive I've seen in a while. I'm accustomed to seeing so much internet bullying and name calling just because people's opinions vary on topics regarding CBM. But this comment section is very refreshing. And if some of you guys are young (as I suspect the idiot bullies are), congratulations!
That being said,I could have only stomached the first two episodes of AoS. It just didn't hold my interest. But I do think I will give it a try when the entire season one comes out.
For me, Arrow's story telling and action was what got me. The first couple of episodes I found the acting was horrible, but after they got past the episodes with the Huntress, I think Arrow just went full steam ahead.
Now if AoS can introduce C, D & E-class villains and heroes as some of you here suggest, I will be more than eager to jump back into it. Because at the end of the day, that's one of the main draws to watching a television version of a superhero. To see the hero in costume, and to see his rogues - not random nobodies. Where's the fun in that (cough - Birds of Prey - cough)
Badmuffin
Badmuffin - 12/28/2013, 3:42 PM
The situation is a little bit more complex for the storyline of AOS: It's part of the MCU, completely. this make more hard insert characters of the MU, Arrow is disconnected by the DCCU, they have more liberty to insert A,B,C characters for the joy of the fans. The young Berry Allen that we known in the 9° episode will be not the one in the BatVsSupes movie (don't insult my intelligence call it the "Justice League" movie, at this point)
AOS is moving on a "mined field" with the character: burn someone that would come handy for a major movie could be a real mess for the production. For this I say: ok, for me the "mister nobodies" are ok, but please give me a good mister nobodies in great nobodies stories and, why not, make this nobodies become somebodies in the MCU and even in the comicbooks.

Now, only the time will tell, I'm still hopefull, nothing is irreparable. even if is so annoyng waste such treasure of hype from the pilot.
