CLOAK AND DAGGER Character Breakdowns Give Us Some Idea Of What To Expect From Our Young Heroes

Following yesterday's Cloak and Dagger casting details, we have character breakdowns for both Tyrone Johnson and Tandy Bowen, and it sounds like there's going to be a few slight changes from the comics.

The guys over at That Hashtag Show have been on a roll recently, sharing character breakdowns for the likes of The Inhumans and Josh Boone's New Mutants movie over the past week or so. Now, they've provided us with descriptions for the two leads of Marvel and Freeform's Cloak and Dagger TV series.

As usual, the real identities of the characters are obscured, but it's pretty obvious that these guys are supposed to be the troubled teens who become the show's heroes of light and darkness.

Tara – Female, 18 to play 17, Caucasian.

Tara was a plucky southern girl who grew up with everything. She was always full of light. Then an accident took away everything. Now she’s a cynic who steals from tourists to make ends meet. Life took from her. She’s going to take back. But can that light be rekindled? Series Lead.

Travis – Male. 18 to play 17. African American.

When Travis was a little boy he was fearless. But then he made a mistake and it cost him dearly. So Travis grew up in a fear. Scared of a world he couldn’t control. So he controlled what he could. Keeping his head down, focusing on school and basketball. Locking in on fear. But is that brave boy still in there? Series Lead.

Ty and Tandy sound like they're going to be pretty close to their comic book counterparts - though in the source materiel it's actually the former that's the petty street criminal, so there's a chance Marvel has decided to switch things up a little in that regard.

Cloak and Dagger is set to begin shooting in New Orleans next month, and will premiere on Freeform next year.

Yeah, Dagger'so outfit probably won't be a direct translation to screen. I know the final actress will most likely be in her 20s, but I hope they don't play up the sexuality on a 17 year old

@mtwiggs - Good Point, snap. I remember in grade 4 finder her look provocative (early 1990s)

A person of color as one of leads? Hmm. Definitely not problematic there. This is a step in the right direction for sure. Will be looking forward to this actually.

This could either be really good, or really bad.

I read a few of their stories when they used to appear in Strange Tales years ago, and one Graphic Novel that was also pretty good. Cloak is pretty cool, at least.
