With Kevin Feige ascending to the role of Chief Creative Officer at Marvel and Marvel Studios assuming all responsibilities for all upcoming film, television, animation and publishing projects, it appears that all non-MCU content will indeed be phased out over the coming months with the latest casualty being Marvel's Cloak & Dagger.

Deadline has learned today that Freeform has decided to cancel the fan-favorite series, which starred Aubrey Joseph (Tyrone Johnson) and Olivia Holt (Tandy Bowen/Dagger) as the titular duo, after two seasons.

In their official statement, the network said, “We are so proud of Marvel’s Cloak & Dagger and the trailblazing stories this series told. We are also grateful to our incredible talent Oliva Holt and Aubrey Joseph for bringing these beloved characters to life, and showrunner Joe Pokaski for his vision. We’d like to thank our partners at Marvel Television for a wonderful two seasons and are we are hopeful that we can find another project together.”

Cloak & Dagger now joins a number of non-MCU properties that were canceled within the past calendar year. ABC announced the end of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. after seven seasons, the Disney-owned Fox axed The Gifted after two seasons and both New Warriors and Ghost Rider never made it out of development. Then, of course, most infamously, Netflix killed all of their Marvel shows, including Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, Iron Fist and The Punisher, shortly after the debut of their respective new seasons.

While the pair will no longer have their own series, both Holt and Joseph are set to guest star in an upcoming episode of Marvel's Runaways, which premieres December 13th on Hulu, so fans won't have to say goodbye just yet.

Premiering on Thursday, April 4th, at 8/7c with a two-hour episode, season two of Marvel's Cloak & Dagger turns the heat up on our young heroes as Tyrone (Aubrey Joseph) and Tandy (Olivia Holt) try to find their place as more active heroes in this world. As they learn and grow emotionally, so will their skills. In season one, we saw Tandy and Ty dip their toes into the world of hopes and fears; this season, they will dive deeper into this metaphysical pool. With enhanced powers and a decision to make about the type of heroes they want to be, they make the choice to run into danger, head first. They tackle a heartless vigilante and uncover an evil that’s been preying on the young women of the city, as the show takes on more serious topics like gang violence and human trafficking.

Cloak and Dagger features:
Olivia Holt as Tandy Bowen/Dagger
Aubrey Joseph as Tyrone Johnson/Cloak
Gloria Reuben as Adina Johnson
Andrea Roth as Melissa Bowen
Miles Mussenden as Otis Johnson
Emma Lahana as Brigid O'Reilly/Mayhem

figures. I guess Feige is hitting that reset button hard now that he's in charge of the TV side. I wouldn't be surprised if we see cancellations on the animated front sooner or later.

How did the Runaways get more seasons than this? This was decidedly the better of the two. Well, at least it had a nice end.

@TheDocotr1225 - I have yet so watch season two of this or Runaways. Hopefully I can watch them soon. The first season was much better than I anticipated. I guess the crossover in Runaways season 3 will be the swan song of them.

I'm starting to wonder if we'll get any live action MCU TV outside of Disney+
