It seems we have a new insight on the crew working to bring Cloak and Dagger to the small screen on Freeform. Following an initial report by Season Zero, Gina Prince-Bythewood later confirmed herself that she would helm the pilot of the upcoming series. Her body of work, which includes The Secret Life of Bees, Love and Basketball, and Beyond The Lights all heavily feature romance, lining up with previous reports and press releases that there would be a significant romantic element to the series.
She also serves as co-creator of
Shots Fired, a FOX TV series set to premiere this coming March.

"The live-action interracial romance follows the duo, two teenagers from very different backgrounds, who find themselves burdened and awakened to newly acquired superpowers while falling in love — Tandy can emit light daggers and Tyrone has the ability to engulf others in darkness. The project is lead by showrunner Joe Pokaski and filming is expected to begin on February 15th.
