I AM GROOT Season 2 Release Update Revealed; Will Feature Appearance From WHAT IF...?'s [SPOILER]

I Am Groot premiered on Disney+ last August, and the adorable series of shorts received a great response from fans. Created using photorealistic CG, the five episodes followed this loveable sentient tree on a series of hilarious and heartwarming misadventures.

At the time, we learned another five instalments had been created, and The Cosmic Circus (via Toonado.com) just shared a long-awaited update about when we're likely to see them.

The site reveals that the current plan is for I Am Groot season 2 to return to Disney+ this September. That places it right between Secret Invasion and Loki and, if we had to hazard a guess, the whole season will once again be released in one go on the streamer.

As you might expect, Guardians of the Galaxy star Vin Diesel is back to lend his voice to Groot, but there's going to be another huge surprise in store for MCU fans.

It's said that it will be here we see Jeffrey Wright reprise his role as What If...?'s Uatu the Watcher!

How Marvel Studios plans to handle this cameo remains to be seen. As the CG used in I Am Groot is so realistic, we're either getting our first look at Wright's Watcher in "live-action" or will see him obscured in the cosmos similar to What If...?'s animated opening sequence.

Either way, this is exciting and we're very intrigued to learn what could possibly lead to The Watcher crossing paths with Baby Groot. Uatu's people actually made their MCU debut in 2017's Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 alongside Stan "The Man" Lee, so perhaps we're getting a throwback to that pivotal moment?

For now, we'll have to wait and see, but the last half of 2023 promises to be exciting for MCU fans. The Marvels is heading to theaters in November, while all episodes of Echo are set to drop simultaneously on Disney+ that same month.

Are you excited about more I Am Groot on the streamer?

Their cgi can really look photorealistic, if the episodes are only 5 minutes lol

Women, lgbtq and children is who they keep trying to cater to when a majority of Marvel fans are men age ranging from 15-70. Make it make sense.

To all the adult men confused by this series:

It’s for children. Obviously. It’s not necessarily for you. If you, as an ostensible adult, happen to watch it and like it, great. If you happen to watch it and don’t like it for whatever reason, well, it’s probably because the show is meant for five year olds. My kids, their cousins, the kids at the playground and pre-k, they all know the show and love it. I suspect the show got quite a few repeat views from parents who threw it on for their kids.

I’d rather see the adventures of teenage Groot. For those saying this is for kids just know my 3 year old nephew even thinks this series was boring.

Your three year old nephew is not representative of all children.

If kids weren’t watching it, it wouldn’t have been green lit for a second season.
