People hate SHIELD because it's a Marvel TV show that doesn't feature any Marvel characters (and I'm not talking about lame ones made up for the MCU). That's like the 1st Iron Man movie starring Bob Stark, Tony Stark's half brother and his ragtag bunch of models/actors.

If Sony respect the source material (which they have proven they do with things like Spider-Man) and Bendis is allowed to have final say and Bendis asks Kevin Feige to help him with the casting and Jeff Lobe stays the [frick] away, then the sky is the limit.

Don't get me wrong, though, I think "Powers" has the potential to rock. And even if I think it sucks, I won't begrudge the people who like it by hoping that it gets canceled.

Another thing, and then I'll stop bogarting this thread: S.H.I.E.L.D. is a vast organization, and even in the comic books, there are agents running around whose names we never know. There aren't enough established S.H.I.E.L.D. agents with large fan bases to make a S.H.I.E.L.D. show comprised of only those characters. There's Nick Fury, but did anyone really expect Samuel L. Jackson to be a regular on the show? Cameos and guest spots are all we can realistically expect from him, especially since his character is spoken for elsewhere in the MCU, running with Captain America. And he's already been on the show.

Most of the other "classic" S.H.I.E.L.D. agents (Dum Dum Dugan, Frenchie, etc.) were Howling Commandos before they were ever part of S.H.I.E.L.D., which is why they popped up in "Captain America: The First Avenger", which if you remember, was set in the 1940s. Are these characters really a big enough deal that the writers of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. needed to come up with some convoluted reason to yank them out of their time period just to be members of a modern day S.H.I.E.L.D. team? If they did that, it would be bye bye Captain America, because the only reason he's staying in our time is because he's trapped here. So who here wants to give up Captain America just to get Dum Dum Dugan?

Honestly, anyone even remotely familiar with S.H.I.E.L.D. from the comics should be able to understand why the creative team behind the show has made most of the decisions it has. There aren't that many established characters who are associated with S.H.I.E.L.D. more than other affiliations. But the way the agency operates is pretty much exactly the way it operates in the comics. And that was the most important thing for the show to get right.

Nobody wants to watch a show with Maria Hill or Coulson in it. We want to see iron man or even war machine, thor, cap, hulk, wolvie, spidey, etc. Who cares if maria hill is in AOS? That shit is like saying we should watch a movie starring Alfred because he's batmans butler, or a show about lois lane.
Agent of shield is useless and its like PAIN. Pain doesn't stop, we just get used to it.

Yes @starYezzus, i would watch that show because it has characters that people actually care about like the penguin, joker, riddler, poison ivy, catwoman, bruce wayne. i would watch the shit outta that show.
If i want to watch a show about some FBI wannabe's patrolling the city catching bad guys, i would watch COPs on fox.
