SECRET INVASION Director Ali Selim Seemingly Drops A Big SPOILER For The Season Finale

Unless we're either taking him up wrong or he's just messing around, Secret Invasion director Ali Selim appears to have dropped a pretty big spoiler for next week's season finale...

The season finale of Secret Invasion is set to air on Disney+ next Wednesday, and director Ali Selim may have dropped a pretty significant spoiler for the episode.

Over the course of the previous 5 episodes, Skrull rebel leader Gravik (Kingsley Ben Adir) has waged a war against Nick Fury (Samuel L. Jackson), doing everything in his power to break the former S.H.I.E.L.D. director's spirit by killing two of his closest allies (Maria Hill and Talos) right in front of him.

To say nothing of the thousands of innocent people Gravik murdered in the series premiere.

So, Fury is now out for his mortal enemy's blood... right?

In the penultimate episode, we saw Nick suit-up and head off for battle, but his inevitable clash with Gravik may not go at all how viewers will be expecting.

When asked by TV Line how the finale will compare to the "typical Marvel series CGI punch-fest," Selim responded:

“I can’t give it away. The thing that I love about this [show] is that the story is less about Nick Fury vanquishing Gravik and is more about Nick Fury reconciling with Gravik.”

Fury probably does feel some guilt about his part in radicalizing Gravik by failing to keep his promise to find the Skrulls a new home, but could he really forgive everything that's gone down? Is Gravik even deserving of redemption?

It's certainly going to be interesting to see how the finale plays out.

"In Marvel Studios’ new series Secret Invasion, set in the present day MCU, Nick Fury learns of a clandestine invasion of Earth by a faction of shapeshifting Skrulls. Fury joins his allies, including Everett Ross, Maria Hill and the Skrull Talos, who has made a life for himself on Earth. Together they race against time to thwart an imminent Skrull invasion and save humanity."

The series stars Samuel L. Jackson, Ben Mendelsohn, Cobie Smulders, Martin Freeman, Kingsley Ben-Adir, Charlayne Woodard, Killian Scott, Samuel Adewunmi, Dermot Mulroney, Christopher McDonald, Katie Finneran, with Emilia Clarke, Olivia Colman, and Don Cheadle.

Ali Selim directs and executive-produces, along with fellow executive producers Kevin Feige, Jonathan Schwartz, Louis D’Esposito, Victoria Alonso, Brad Winderbaum, Samuel L. Jackson, Ali Selim, Kyle Bradstreet and Brian Tucker. Kyle Bradstreet is also the head writer, and Jennifer L. Booth, Allana Williams and Brant Englestein serve as co-executive producers.

Bad show, bloated budget. It is an avengers world and all you have to save it from ww3 is a washed out shield director. Im not saying throw all the avengers there but the writers should consider a small scale given it is a d+ show, not some world ending scenario.

@vectorsigma - PLOT HOLES in this show are just racking up every WEEK.
It's comical, really, how little of this show stands up to even THE BAREST scrutiny.
I guess simply more BAD WRITING from Marvel and D+.
AS USUAL THESE DAYS.

@TempleRod - at this point im just watching for being an mcu completionist (is that a word? Lol)

At least the misery is ending next week

Secret Invasion is the epic 2 movie blow out that we should have gotten with all of the Avengers.

What we get is a limp Disney+ show and then the Kang/variants/multiverse nonsense.

Snore...

@DocSpock - it's crazy to think the Russo's went on record saying they were done with the MCU after Endgame, but one of the story's they would HAVE TO come back for would be Secret Invasion simply because they love it so much that they would just have to do it.

But instead, we got this... Lmao

@TheVandalore - They never said that. You’re thinking of Secret ‘Wars’

@TheVandalore -

Yeah... it hurts to remember that.

@DocSpock - Like Vandalore, think you’re misremembering. Russos have never discussed Secret Invasion. Only ever shown interest in Secret ‘Wars’

@DocSpock - Completely agree with your opinion on the show itself though. Secret Invasion could sustain a whole Phase of the MCU

@CerealKiller1 - oh oops. I do more and more misremembering. Thanks for the correction.

end of the latest episode where Fury re-dons his gear did nothing for me. Did the showrunner really think he did something by giving back the eyepatch and trench coat?

He clearly was trying to make some big symbolic thing out of it, but sorry no impact for me. 💁‍♂️

Well of course, can't have an old ass Nick Fury beat up a Skrull; it's almost as if this story would work better with actual superheroes on front

Man. This show is such a huge missed opportunity. They should have called it something else and made this show the story that laid the groundwork for the actual Secret Invasion story, which should have been the big Phase 4, 5, and 6 storyline instead of the Multiverse.

They could have done so much with this over the span of a few phases and including all the heroes and villains. It could have also been the main reason why there are no Avengers. Because they could have all went solo in fear of not being able to trust each other.

As it stands, there are no Avengers.....why? Endgame happened, sure. But why just because Steve and Tony are gone, the rest of the Avengers just disband? Again I ask, why? Why would they do that?

The show is okay, IMHO... However, it'd be better as a series of movies, it'd be a refreshing change after the Thanos-big-bad kind of a storyline. Now, with the harvest, it seems it's only there to introduce the creation of Sentry.

That is not a spoiler unless you interpret it as one. Focus more on the "I can't give it away."

This scoop was from like last week so it's a little late, but yes I also couldn't help but wonder that Fury will actually reach some kind of truce with Gravik. IDK how I feel about that after all he's done.

At least he should be put in a special prison.

@NinnesMBC - Put in a special prison? You kidding??? Wanda committed mass multi-universal homicide and is just waiting to rejoin the mask-and-spandex gang again for more adventures. 🫤

It's going to have a generic ending.
I'd be ok if they retconned this into never having have happened and they do a proper secret invasion later.

What? So was Fury a Father figure to Gravik? Damn. I'm loving this series.

So, regarding last episode, the "Veil" was introduced in a very weird way with Fury saying the upgraded version could change the skin.

Talos survived Gravik and the body that his daughter cremated was... maybe a human body with the upgraded version of the Veil?

You know, Gravik uses the shapeshifter capability as his greatest weapon. Fury using an element of surprise and beating Gravik at his own game would be epic.

And there's also Maria Hill... I'm expecting those two to get back.

"...failing to keep his promise to find the Skrulls a new home."

Yeah. Because as every Marvel Cosmic movie has shown us; there's virtually no habitable planets ANYWHERE in the known universe. 🙄

Agents of SHIELD did everything in Secret Invasion significantly better in their LMD arc in season 4.
