SECRET INVASION Director Reveals Whether A Post-Credits Scene Was Ever Considered For Finale

Marvel Studios is known for delivering memorable post-credits scenes but Secret Invasion didn't even include a tease for The Marvels! Now, director Ali Selim has revealed whether a stinger was considered.

Despite the fact Nick Fury will be a key supporting character in The Marvels, it's widely believed the upcoming movie won't actually reference the events of Secret Invasion.

We can no longer blame the pandemic for that, though it is probably because of the overlapping production schedules of movies and TV shows like these. With Talos, Gi'ah, Gravik, and Varra all either dead or busy elsewhere, they're not showing up, meaning the best we can hope for is a quick mention of that attempted invasion.

Despite all of that, many fans couldn't help but wonder why Secret Invasion didn't conclude with a post-credits scene setting up the Captain Marvel sequel. Now, director Ali Selim has suggested there were never plans for one.

"That’s a good question for Kevin Feige and the MCU at large," he stated in an interview with TV Line. "I know that they use these movies and series to launch things, or to wrap things up, and post-credit sequences serve to do that."

"I don’t know what they’re launching with this show."

"I do know what they’re wrapping up, which is Nick Fury’s internal struggle with aging and with his sense of purpose and his sense of ‘other,’ which I think gets wrapped up really well," Selim continued. "And there’s not much else to say about that, so I don’t know that a post-credits sequence would help."

The filmmaker concluded by saying, "I also am certain they’re launching some things with what’s going on at the end of this series, and I guess they didn’t feel that any of those things warranted a post-credits sequence.”

We know at least one of those is Armor Wars, but seeing as that's been a TV show and movie and doesn't currently have a release date, perhaps we shouldn't be shocked that there was nothing to set the stage for a project surrounded by such uncertainty. It's hard not to be disappointed, though.

In the same interview, Selim revealed "there is a ton of stuff on the cutting room floor," but if and when we'll ever get to see that remains to be seen.

All episodes of Secret Invasion are now streaming on Disney+.

I mean , we got 2 launching points at the end of the show so I can understand not doing a post credits scene…

1. Super Skrull Giah teaming up with Sonya to work together to help each other and their “people”

2. The President declaring war on all alien species on Earth

I wouldn’t be surprised if the G’iah and Sonya team up leads to the MCU version of Excalibur or MI:13.

Anyway , I personally did feel Fury’s arc was done decently well (though could have been stronger by having him actually confront Gravik) and overall I liked the show.

Definitely in the middle of the pack for me , 3.5 out of 5.

“ I don’t know that a post-credits sequence would help."

Nothing would have helped that horribly boring and plodding season.

Well, Better writers would have helped, but now these inept scribes are on strike demanding more money for continually substandard work.

Lmao hes starting to sound more and more defensive with each of these post show interviews.

And he just sounds so uninterested and flat out bad as a director.

I’m not sure about the logistics of it all, but at this point, Marvel and DC should really start scrapping these duds regardless of how far they are in production, because if this year has proven anything, releasing them anyway for a quick return is not only failing, but outright having a detrimental effect on their respective franchises and a domino effect resulting in bigger losses down the line.

Everything captain marvel related in the MCU has been mid tier or below for me. Maybe ms. Marvel slightly above that. If I had to rank the projects I’d go

Secret Invasion < Captain Marvel < ms. Marvel

Still can't believe how much the mcu hates fury post ultron. Didn't do anything but appear briefly in infinity war and endgame, had fury lose his eye to a cat, made him incompetent in far from home (with the only saving grace being it wasn't actually him), then this show basically confirms he was only as competent as he was because of the skrulls

Uh....while I won't go as NEGATIVE as popular PODCASTERS, I have to say that MARVEL STUDIOS is in SERIOUS trouble if they don't straighten out SOON. The MARVELS is packing theaters, although MANY fans here Delusionally think General Audiences will pay to see this movie which connects to nothing

"I do know what they’re wrapping up, which is Nick Fury’s internal struggle with aging and with his sense of purpose and his sense of ‘other,’ which I think gets wrapped up really well,"

What? Was he watching a different show? It was old man Fury who pretty much has PTSD after the blip - which they never properly address - struggling with everyone telling him he's a has-been and turns out he's a never-was.

Apart from Gravik dying (I'm not sure how given he has extremis) nothing was resolved, the terrorists are still out there and Fury is back where he started
