UPDATE: Bryan Fuller tweeted “NBC just informed me the Deadline article regarding #MockingbirdLane was Dead Wrong. Stay tuned for updates!”

.............................................

Deadline is reporting that NBC is close to passing on "Mockingbird Lane," although the decision is not final as of yet. The show was put together by Bryan Fuller, who is best known for his short-lived, yet beloved television series "Pushing Daisies." The pilot was directed by Bryan Singer ("X-Men") and it received strong praise for it's visuals from the few critics that viewed it.

Don't feel too bad for Fuller as he has his hands full with another series "Hannibal." That show is about Hannibal Lector, a character made famous in "Silence of the Lambs." Where as "Mockingbird Lane" couldn't get past the pilot stage, "Hannibal" already has a 13-episode midseason order.

The pilot, written by Bryan Fuller and to be directed by Bryan Singer, is described as a reinvention of the 1960s sitcom about The Munsters, a family of “monsters” — vampires, werewolves and Frankenstein, and their “plain” cousin (Charity Wakefield) — that will feature striking visuals in the vein of Fuller’s ABC dramedy Pushing Daisies. O’Connell will play family patriarch, the handsome and gangly Herman Munster, a great dad and devoted husband. He is married to Lily, a vampire, with whom he has fathered a 10-year-old boy, Eddie (Mason Cook). Strong but sentimental, Herman works at a funeral home, and worries that Eddie’s transformation into a werewolf and burgeoning awareness of his family’s origins will crush the boy’s spirit.

You can't honestly tell me you didn't see this coming! The show and its failed premise were an abortion from the start. It should've been faithful to the source, or left in the past as the classic it is. I could even buy the slightly more serious approach, but they screwed up EVERYTHING from the beginning. Look at the Adams family! Sure it was a movie, buy it showed that a reboot of a classic tv show CAN be done right, and still be modernized.

Man I was not sure about this show but I was going to give it a chance since it was written by Fuller. I loved Pushing Daisies. He also created two other great but sadly short lived series, Dead Like Me and Wonderfall.

Bryan Fuller is one of those immenensly talented writers who writes some the best, quirky and funny shows but for some reason the don't catch on.

I would love for him to get a show on the air that last more than 2 years.

This is NOT NOT NOT True. Bryan Fuller confirmed on his twitter that the article is BOGUS. NBC also told him that the article is BOGUS. It's still very possible that we will see this show. I wish people wouldn't post articles unless they have CREDIBLE sources. Whoever wrote the original article "heard" wrong.

Why not do a modern day version of Airwolf? With drones. That could be interesting.

Why don't they ever bring back or remake good shows, like BJ and the Bear? Now there's a concept I can't get enough of, a man and his monkey.

Nothing about that show sounded good to anyone but the people that wrote it and even then I have some doubts. It just sounded painful.

Everytime they try to do "the Munsters" it always fails. Some things just shouldn't be messed with
