ARMY OF THE DEAD Wins The #OscarFanFavorite Award... Oh, & Will Smith Slaps Chris Rock In The Face!

We figured this might be the outcome, and sure enough, Zack Snyder's legions of fans have voted Netflix's Army of the Dead the most popular movie of the year at the 94th Academy Awards.

Zack Snyder's Justice League was not eligible for the fan-favorite vote at this year's Academy Awards, but the filmmaker's legions of devotees still found a way to pay tribute to their lord and saviour by pouring all of their votes into Army of the Dead.

Even though Spider-Man: No Way Home seemed a shoo-in to win when this controversial category was first announced, Netflix's zombie movie ended up coming in at #1 over Cinderella, Minamata, No Way Home. and tick, tick... BOOM!

This may not have been particularly shocking, but something happened during the show that most definitely was!

As you'll no doubt have seen or at least heard about by now, Will Smith rose from his seat and slapped Chris Rock in the face after he made a joke about Jada Pinkett Smith's hair. The sound cut out (you can hear the uncensored version below) as Smith sat back down and yelled, "keep my wife's name out your f*cking mouth."

Jane Campion just won Best Director for The Power of The Dog, so things are beginning to wind down. We'll update once the show is over, but for now, let us know what you make of this craziness in the comments section.

Yeah this kind of proves the Snyder bros mobbed the fan voting. Both the stand up and cheer and fan favorite.

Also Cinderella did make #2. What a joke of an award.

Will Smith even if he doesn't get the Oscar wins the night lol!

@MrDandy

Will Smith absolutely did not win the night. That joke rocked him to his core and his speech lacked humility, self awareness, and straight up disrespected Chris Rock on national tv.

He looked really bad. And I was really bummed about that - it SHOULDVE been his night.

@regularmovieguy - I meant mostly he won in the sense that most of the coverage will be centered on him. Not really factoring negative or positive.

@regularmovieguy - Um... Chris Rock DESERVED to get disrespected on national TV.

@SerKurtWagner - Sticks and stones my guy. Can't handle a joke? Then don't sit in front of a comedian. Any sane person would've talked to Chris rock afterwards, instead of doing this.

@MrDandy - That’s a nice way of saying Snyder fans voted more than any other fanbase lol nothing too deep, Snyder has a huge Twitter following and it showed.

@kazuma - OP wasn't talking about the smack, he was talking like Smith should have "respected" Rock with his acceptance speech.
CorndogBurglar
CorndogBurglar - 3/28/2022, 8:26 AM
@kazuma - I mean, Jada has an autoimmune disease that causes her hair to fall out. Chris Rock's insult was basically the same thing as making fun of a Cancer patient for being bald.

Should Will Smith have reacted this way? Probably not. But Chris Rock was a dick for making a joke about her and her hair.

“ OP wasn't talking about the smack”

I absolutely was talking about the smack. The fact that he then tried to say he’s an ambassador for love after he smacked the shit out of him is a joke.

Sit down.

@Satan - the take is 100% correct. Smith acted childish, immature, and ridiculous in front of a national audience, and if he wasn't millionaire Will Smith he'd be in jail right now. You don't get to assault people when they hurt your feelings, and excusing that kind of behavior sets a dangerous precedent.

@CorndogBurglar - 1. She's bald... So is Vin Diesel, The Rock and millions of other people. Don't make it out to be some shit she's dying from. She is just bald. That's it.

2. Chris Rock didn't know about it. All he knew was that she shaved her head.

Yall really expect people to know everything about everyone huh? The joke was in poor taste but that's it. And don't compare hair lose to dying from cancer.

@BobbyW - Agreed!
CorndogBurglar
CorndogBurglar - 3/28/2022, 7:46 PM
@kazuma - 1. Vin Diesel, The Rock, and millions of others aren't bald because of a disease. They are bald because a LOT of men go bald naturally. It's 100% normal. Jada went bald due to a disease. There's a huge difference there.

2. How do you know Chris Rock didn't know she had this disease? He hasn't come out and said that. And if normal people like me knew, then it's a very strong chance that people in Hollywood know. You can't just make up your own narrative to prove your own point. You have no idea what Chris Rock knows. Neither do I, but at least I'm using some kind of logic to make an educated guess.

3. I never said she was dying from her disease. But again, if you can't tell the difference between someone going bald due to a disease, and someone naturally going bald, then I dont know what to tell you. Here's a better comparison. Would you insult someone with Vitillago (may not have spelled that right)? The disease that causes black people's skin to turn white? No you wouldn't, because it's inappropriate as hell, and trashy. This is the same thing. Just like making fun of a Cancer patient who's hair fell out due to treatment for their disease. Also, not all people with Cancer die from it. But if they get radiation treatment, their hair falls out. So no, I'm not comparing this with people dying from Cancer. I'm comparing this with making fun of people with side effects of a disease.
kazuma
kazuma - 3/28/2022, 8:10 PM
@CorndogBurglar - I didn't know about her "disease". I know tons of people that didn't know. She's not really a public face.

And your making up a narrative that he did know. Why is your narrative the right one? Because you believe it to be? Just because you knew doesn't mean everyone else does. Besides Jada [frick]ing around, who tf was talking about her? Like, seriously?

@The72nd - I'm referring to some regular joe-schmoe getting but hurt about Will's reaction. The man could buy his way out of a jail cell, the same doesn't apply to us. He's not a role model either, he's an actor.

I don’t quite grasp why the G.I. Jane joke was so offensive to Smith and Pinkett-Smith (she looked clearly unpleased for sure), but he sure decked Rock right across the jaw.

@Benjamitesandwich - When your wife is suffering a health condition that she is mentally and emotionally depressed by and a comedian uses a global award show as a platform to insult her, you tell me if a husband is completely in the wrong for standing up for his wife. Especially when people have become so bold to speak with no consequences for the things they say.
