Back in February, we found out that Adi Shakar was developing a Castlevania animated series for Netflix, and now the first trailer has just debuted.

It's brief, but we do get a pretty good idea of the animation style and there are glimpses of a few bloody vampire kills in there, too.

Shankar has previously teased a "dark, satirical" adaptation that would "flip the vampire sub-genre on its head," and more recently he promised us the "western world's first good video game adaptation." That remains to be seen of course, but with talent like Warren Ellis and Adventure Time's Kevin Kolde involved, it should be well worth a look at the very least.

According to the teaser, the show is set for a July 7 premiere.

Tell us, are you looking forward to seeing The Belmont family slay bloodsuckers on Netflix, or would you have preferred a live-action feature adaptation of Castlevania? Sound off below.

@RorMachine - Hey comic book movies are the epitome of cool. I mean look at guys who own comic book shops. They are gods of sex who women throw themselves at and men kill themselves in utter shame they will never match their coolness or charisma. I mean look at this Adonis of a man coolness personified.
