AHSOKA: Did Rosario Dawson Just Confirm Recent Ezra Bridger And Grand Admiral Thrawn Casting Rumors?

We recently learned that Lucasfilm may have cast Ezra Bridger and Grand Admiral Thrawn in The Mandalorian spinoff series Ahsoka, but did Rosario Dawson just confirm the news? Read on for further details...

It was recently reported that the Ahsoka series coming to Disney+ has cast Mena Massoud as Ezra Bridger and Lars Mikkelsen as Grand Admiral Thrawn. While the latter voiced the villain in Star Wars Rebels and is now seemingly set to return to the role in live-action, the Aladdin star is very much a newcomer to this Galaxy Far, Far Away.

If the rumours are true, this is pitch-perfect casting on Lucasfilm's part, but has it now been confirmed by Ahsoka Tano herself, Rosario Dawson?

The actress recently took to Instagram to share a post from a fan in which they celebrated the rumored casting of Massoud and Mikkelsen. Dawson is no stranger to secretive franchises (she kept her role as Ahsoka under wraps long enough), so perhaps she's already aware of them joining the series and simply doesn't realise it hasn't been made official yet?

On the other hand, this could just be a simple mistake!

Either way, Ahsoka is shaping up to be an extremely exciting series. Rumour has it that we'll also see live-action versions of Captain Rex, Barriss Offee, and Sabine Wren, though there's no casting news on that front yet (we are, however, assuming Temuera Morrison would play Rex).

Keep checking back here for updates on Ahsoka because something is clearly brewing...

I have no idea what BIPOC is, but I support this casting either way.

Wonder who they'll get as Barriss though, and what her role will be. Would be cool if Thrawn uses her as an agent of sorts

I mean... unless its uber trolling and neither Thrawn or Ezra are in the show, I think Rosario just confirmed it.

I mean, I support representation as much as the next guy, but is that really all that makes people excited for these characters? Isn't that a bit superficial?

@Drace24 - That's part of the transition. People are just happy when they see it, its cool, because it just means that at some point we won't have to celebrate it because it'll be normal. Like remember how we were pumped when it was announced that a female was finally leading a movie in the MCU. It felt big, and we celebrated it, and once it becomes normal, there's no longer a need for it, because it's just normalized.

@Deonox - I guess. But will it ever truly feel normal, when we always perform such a dance for it?

Reminds me of that one comic-con panel for The Good Place, where the cast celebrated itself for a few minutes. "Oh, there are so many women and non-white people at the set. It feels so good. And it's so normal. So normal, you guys! Nobody talks about it! Ever. Everyone applaude the showrunner. Applaude for how normal this is!"
And you could tell the showrunner was so annoyed and trying not to roll his eyes It was so cringey.

Maybe I'm just too cynical, but something about this grandstanding just irks me. It feels shallow and pretentious and more like it's working against normalization than for it.
Doesn't mean I have a problem with the casting itself, mind you, cuz I love it.

@Drace24 - My bad that I'm super late for responding. And thank you for the elaboration. I'm not going to lie, sometimes it does feel extra cringe. But after time i do think some of it does go away. Like back when they announced Wonderwoman and Captain Marvel, everyone was excited because female superheroes could finally lead their own properties, and they were celebrated for that. Since then we've had Black Widow, Harley Quinn, Supergirl, Jessica Jones, Wanda-Vision, Ant-Man & the Wasp, Ms Marvel. By the time we get to She Hulk, no one is gonna be celebrating it because by then it'll just be normal. But thats just me being overly optimistic towards which I am to a fault sometimes
