THE MANDALORIAN Star Rosario Dawson Reveals George Lucas Was There When She Shot Ahsoka Tano Scenes

George Lucas and Dave Filoni created Ahsoka Tano, so it was only fitting that the Star Wars creator was there to see Rosario Dawson bring the character to life in live-action. Find out more details here...

While Ahsoka Tano is now one of the most popular Star Wars characters out there, that wasn't always the case. In fact, when George Lucas and Dave Filoni introduced Anakin Skywalker's apprentice, no one really liked her! That's obviously changed over the years, and so it's fair to say that the iconic Jedi is another great creation from the man who brought Star Wars to the big screen in 1977.

As you may recall, a photo went viral not too long ago showing Lucas on the set of The Mandalorian with The Child (Grogu) in his arms. As it turns out, Rosario Dawson's Ahsoka was just off to one side!

"I actually got to be there on the day that there’s that photo," the actress tells Variety. "Someone took a picture of George Lucas holding Baby Yoda. I’m still calling him Baby Yoda—Grogu! I was there that day. I was all dressed up, I was just off to the side of that photo, all done up as Ahsoka. And I remember it broke the internet when that picture came out. It was just an amazing, amazing moment, and we were all beside ourselves. It was definitely very 'geek out.'"

"I was definitely nerve-racked, and it was great to be there with him and Dave," Dawson continued. "I mean, it’s a lot of pressure. But it was also really fun. Both of them were looking at me but they weren’t, you know what I mean? They were looking at their imaginations come to life."

It's definitely fitting that Lucas was there to see Ahsoka brought to life in live-action, and crazy to think that Dawson was just out of frame when that shot of the filmmaker was taken on the show's set.

What the future holds in store for the character from here remains to be seen. However, the reaction to her in The Mandalorian has been overwhelmingly positive, so she'll likely return before too long.

There was a lot of imagery in this episode of The Mandalorian which was quite clearly inspired by samurai tales. However, as director Dave Filoni didn't go too heavy-handed with that, it worked well.

Seeing Ahsoka Tano leap into action in this episode was awesome, and the fact that she was fighting alongside Din Djarin was honestly a little mind-blowing and not something we ever expected to see.

The episode's final battle between Ahsoka Tano and Imperial Magistrate Morgan Elsbeth was great, but having them fight in a setting like the one above arguably would have been too on the nose.

During her "conversation" with The Child, Ahsoka learned that his real name is "Grogu" and that he was once trained in the Jedi Temple. Who hid him away all those year ago is still a mystery, though.

Ahsoka made it clear that she can't train Grogu, largely due to his attachment to Din Djarin. Something tells us that he won't end up becoming a Jedi, and may choose to be a Mandalorian instead!

The level of Respect for Lucas from Favreau an Filoni is great. Wished Kathleen had shown that same respect when making the sequel trilogy

@LameLuka - She wanted the future of Star Wars to be hers and hers alone.

@LameLuka - Yeah.... Kennedy made some mistakes but "not showing enough respect to George" is not one of them. This isn't George's company anymore. It's great to have him visit from time to time but if there's one thing to learn from the Prequels it's that Star Wars works best when Lucas' ideas are filtered through other artists.

@SerKurtWagner - Star Wars does work best when his ideas are filtered through other artists .. as long as those ideas are good.

The sequels are so forgettable compared to what the Mandalorian is doing.

Can't believe how my opinions on Lucas have changed over the last 5-6 years. I was one of the"George Lucas r@ped my childhood" guys before. Thought he was a hack who lucked out once and rode it into the ground. But now I think he's pretty clever, he synthesized a lot of literary, philosophical, and psychological ideas in his work, and I'm glad he still has some influence.

Totally unpopular opinion... I want Filoni's overly-complicated SW orthodoxy left out of the Mandalorian. I don't think he added much to SW, and I dislike what he did with Thrawn.

I don't want Mando to become a incubator for Filoni projects.
