GOTHAM KNIGHTS: The CW Debuts First Official Key Art For Upcoming DC Comics Series

The CW has released a first look at the upcoming Gotham Knights TV series via some official key art spotlighting the show's leads, and it's every bit as generic as you'd expect...

The CW has cancelled quite a few of its DC Comics-based shows at this stage, but CEO Mark Pedowitz promised that the network is "staying in the superhero business" during today's upfronts, and one of the new projects fans can look forward to(?) is Gotham Knights.

A first look at the show has now been released via some official key art, and it looks... like a CW DCTV series!

The banner features the main cast members standing around in an alley (as you do) without so much as a hint of a costume. We're sure at least a few of them will suit-up at some point over the course of the season, however.

Gotham Knights

Gotham Knights will star Fallon Smythe (Grown-Ish) as Bluebird, Tyler DiChiara (Relish) as her brother Cullen Row, Olivia Rose Keegan (Days of our Lives) as Duela Dent, Navia Robinson (Raven's Home) as Carrie Kelley, Oscar Morgan (Trauma) as Turner Hayes, Misha Collins (Supernatural) as Harvey Dent, and Anna Lore as Stephanie Brown.

You can check out the show's updated logline below.

"The one-hour drama takes place in in the wake of Bruce Wayne’s murder. His rebellious adopted son forges an unlikely alliance with the children of Batman’s enemies when they are all framed for killing the Caped Crusader. And as the city’s most wanted criminals, this renegade band of misfits must fight to clear their names. But in a Gotham with no Dark Knight to protect it, the city descends into the most dangerous it’s ever been. However, hope comes from the most unexpected of places as this team of mismatched fugitives will become its next generation of saviors known as the Gotham Knights."

I really thought that was Curran Walters for a second and got confused

And that brings me to my next question: who's who supposed to be? Can't really tell them apart without costumes.

@bkmeijer1 - I guess the one on green and purple is Duela Dent? Though that is based just on the color scheme of choice.

Okay it seems like they are sticking with the name Gotham Knights then. Wild branding choice when the video game coming out has the exact same name.

@TheManWithoutFear - it’s so we have something to watch when we can’t play the game because we don’t have the current gen console.

Albeit I’ll probably watch more of the cutscenes of the game online than this actual show.

Will these “Batman Without Batman” projects ever end?
HAILHYDRA
HAILHYDRA - 5/19/2022, 11:37 AM
@datfigures - I was wondering the exact same thing. It’s ridiculous how many shows they’ve done with that idea. Birds of Prey (TV series), Gotham, Titans, Batwoman, Another Gotham PD show, Pennyworth, maybe a Penguin show, and now this. DC literally has no idea what they want to do.

@HAILHYDRA - at least they seem to know what they don't want: Batman in any of their shows.

Even if a direct Batman show would be the perfect medium to explore the characters psyche and rogues gallery

@noahthegrand - that’s really, really, sad. People having standards so low that THIS, as generic and bland as it could possibly be, ‘looks fun’ is why we keep getting this trash.

In all seriousness, what looks fun? Crappy d-list actors? The really bad premise? The stellar production team behind it (/s)?
noahthegrand
noahthegrand - 5/19/2022, 4:58 PM
@Deklipz -idk. I like Duella Dent and Harper Row as characters in the comics. Misha Green is a great choice to play Two-Face, my favorite Batman villain, and teen shows can be fun, look at Buffy for example.
Deklipz
Deklipz - 5/20/2022, 4:36 PM
@noahthegrand - I hated Buffy. Teen shows have always been stupid to me. That's why I never watched Smallville or any of the other crap that came out at the time. I actually didn't watch much of any TV from 96 through about 2010 so when the odd occasion rolled around that I did, I stayed away from crap shows with people I couldn't stand to watch on screen. I call that time the great drought, where everyone was so thirsty for sci-fi/geek/genre content that Whedon or anyone else in his spot could have wiped their ass with a comic book, filmed it, and turned it into a hit show. Have a handful of generic teen-ish people stand around and spout witty, but entirely unnatural and ridiculous dialogue that screams 'this is what a 40 year old thinks teens sound like' while wearing skimpy outfits and it'll get a cult following that the starts can live off of for decades to come... everything from that time was crap, and the CW shows are just the new version of that crap. Horrible teen actors, decent real actors that don't have any stock left outside of this crap, and a base that will eat anything they can throw at it. The only reason so much shit got cancelled recently is because Warner was devaluing their crap by leaving it on life support so they could sell. Now that it's sold there's no reason to keep the crap. But throwing more shit at the wall to see if it sticks is just what studios do, hence this show.

Outside of Two-face's actor the entire cast is crap. Like, unwatchable levels of crap. I really hope it dies with a single season, or maybe it will just get pulled midway and quietly shit-canned and everyone can move on like it never happened.

They really know how to squeeze a sponge. I imagine some exec sitting around saying "Look, we got the name, and people are stupid. Use Gotham in the title, splatter dialouge referencing Batman mythos and get a new batch of compliant Disney tween rejects to say shit about a universe while they deal with the difficulties of acne and dating... Hurrrrrr🤮rrrrllll!"

The frontman doesn't look like a Robin at all.

Definitely not Dick, nor Tim, and lol I would go crazy if he was Damian.

He could be Jason, as he won't be in the Titans anymore.

@UXASIS - They state who those 5 characters are in the paragraph right below the pic.

This could literally be ANY SHOW. Nothing about this other than the name tells me it's a comic book/superhero show, a DC show, or a Batman-themed show.

This is the most nondescript thing I've ever seen.
