The CW's highest rated show, The Vampire Diaries, returns for its sixth season this fall. Last season ended with the deaths of Bonnie (Kat Graham) & Damon (Ian Somerhalder), this season picks up a few months later with Elena (Nina Dobrev) still in mourning and Stefan (Paul Wesley) seemingly moving on. The show is based on L. J. Smith's hit book series and has expanded into comic books and graphic novels, published by DC Comics, following the success of the television series.

Check out the first promo from season 6 below!

After a big time jump, the premiere opens with Bonnie (Kat Graham) and Damon (Ian Somerhalder) still gone. While their whereabouts will be revealed quickly, the question of what happened while they were there will be a season-long arc. Elena (Nina Dobrev) will be grieving over the loss of Damon by making some surprising choices and bonding with Stefan (Paul Wesley) and Alaric (Matt Davis), who does some bonding of his own with a woman he meets. Get ready for a handful of new faces, including a militia leader (Colin Ferguson) and a tough doctor at the university hospital (Jodi Lyn O'Keefe). Matt (Zach Roerig) will be thriving as he gets involved in the new magic-less community, while Tyler (Michael Trevino), now back to a human with the werewolf gene, will return to his testosterone-filled, hard-headed personality. Will he reconnect with Caroline (Candice Accola), whom executive producer Julie Plec says will take the loss of Bonnie and Damon "in a weird way the hardest"?

The Vampire Diaries features:
Nina Dobrev as Elena Gilbert/Katherine Pierce
Paul Wesley as Stefan Salvatore
Ian Somerhalder as Damon Salvatore
Steven R. McQueen as Jeremy Gilbert
Kat Graham as Bonnie Bennett
Candice Accola as Caroline Forbes
Zach Roerig as Matt Donovan
Michael Trevino as Tyler Lockwood
Matt Davis as Alaric Saltzman
Michael Malarkey as Enzo

I watch it.... Honestly to compare this to Twilight, would be complimenting Twilight. Its not a great show by no means and is going downhill fast, but it was good enough for me to bear through 5 seasons of nonsense, for the good parts the show does have. I won't be watching this season though, since the best character of the show, in which he had the best parts, is now just a ghost that will pop up here and there, and because the show just haven't been trying to progress in the slightest.

Oh yeah and the show have some sexy women in it, so even during a lot of the nonsense, you at least had a view.

It actually has a decent story but the acting, writing and numerous other aspects are egregious.

I actually used to follow it. But I liked it's spin-off, The Originals, better last season. It was like a Underworld-ish Game of Thrones, without the graphic nudity, epic violence and awesome writing. But the acting is what sold me. There was some much ham in that show it could've been blamed for this year's pork shortage. I LOVED it!

It's actually not bad. If you people get a chance, binge watch it on Netflix. TVD and it's sister show, The Originals, are the best shows on the CW. It's a big drop after that.

@Invincible - I already saw a preview of iZombie on TV. It was Thursday I believe and it looked pretty cool for the most part. Keep watching TV this weekend, they should be throwing all the previews up during NFL Preseason.

Anyway, why is this article even on this site? Is Vampire Diaries a comic book now? God help us all.
