Variety confirms that Snowpiercer has been renewed for season three by TNT. Season two premieres this Monday (the first batch of episodes ran between May and July 2020), so the network is clearly confident in it being well-received by viewers if this news is any sort of indication of what's to come.

At the end of season one, the survivors of the revolution are trying to pick up the pieces and maintain a fragile peace amongst the now merged classes with Layton (Daveed Diggs) emerging as the train's leader. Discovering Mr. Wilford (Sean Bean) is alive and headed their way on a rival train, Melanie (Jennifer Connelly) risks going outside to prevent him from invading Snowpiercer.

While she's out there, it's revealed that Alexandra (Rowan Blanchard), Melanie's daughter, who she thought had died, is alive and has become Wilford's dedicated protégée.

In season two, an entirely new power struggle emerges, causing a dangerous rift as people are divided between their loyalty to Layton and to Mr. Wilford, who has a new train, new technology and a game plan that keeps everyone guessing. While Layton battles Wilford for the soul of Snowpiercer, Melanie leads the charge on a shocking new discovery that could change the fate of humanity.

In our review of the first eight episodes of Snowpiercer season two, we said "Sean Bean steals the show in every scene, but even though Snowpiercer remains an action-packed, entertaining ride, season three needs to shake things up and stop playing it safe, or it might be time for viewers to get off at the station."

Based on the graphic novel and movie of the same name, Snowpiercer is now TNT's only ongoing series following the upcoming final episodes of Animal Kingdom and Claws. The network is also the home of All Elite Wrestling: Dynamite, but you can read about that over at TheRingReport.com.

Yeah I thought season 1 to be a pleasant surprise after having watched the movie it was based on. So definitely looking forward to this second season. Will reserve my anticipation for a third until such time I see how this second one plays out. Just hope for a change Sean Bean's character will be able to survive all the madness until the end.

I finally watched the show recently when I found out season 2 was coming soon. As someone who loved the movie I very much liked the show as well. Different enough to be genuinely entertaining abd exciting.
