SNOWPIERCER Season 4 Will Happen After All As AMC Acquires Rights To Scrapped TNT Series

It's rare for a canceled TV series to receive a final season, but WBD's decision to pull the plug on Snowpiercer still stung. Now, we can confirm that a fourth and final batch of episodes is coming to AMC.

We finally have an update about Snowpiercer as Variety (via SFFGazette.com) has confirmed that season 4 will happen after all. AMC has acquired the U.S. linear and streaming rights to the previous three seasons along the the next batch of episodes after TNT decided to scrap the show early last year.

That network had already confirmed plans to end the series with season 4 but, under Warner Bros Discovery CEO David Zaslav's watch, the show was scrapped altogether as a means of saving money.

Seasons 1 - 3 of Snowpiercer will drop on AMC+ later this year, with season 4 currently eyeing an early 2025 premiere.

"'Snowpiercer' is an edge-of-your-seat thrill ride with a loyal fanbase - similar to the passionate fandoms we serve across our biggest franchise series - and a welcome addition to AMC and AMC+," said Ben Davis, executive vice president of original programming for AMC Networks and AMC Studios.

"We look forward to giving viewers an opportunity to binge the first three seasons later this year, in anticipation of the arrival of a remarkable fourth season helmed by Paul Zbyszewski and this stellar cast, which will premiere in 2025."

Showrunner Paul Zbyszewski adds, "We’re so thrilled the train has finally found a home, and we’re incredibly grateful to everyone at AMC and Tomorrow Studios for giving the fans of ‘Snowpiercer’ a chance to enjoy season four with all the hard work this amazing cast and crew put into it."

Tomorrow Studios' founder & CEO Marty Adelstein, president and partner Becky Clements, and executive vice president Alissa Bachner also issued a join statement reading, "We love 'Snowpiercer' and AMC is the perfect partner to share its final season, which completes an incredible series filled with brilliant talent that entertains viewers while exploring important global issues."

Should season 4 prove to be a huge ratings hit, then it's surely possible the show could continue in some form. Clark Gregg and Michael Aronov were among the actors added to the cast for this next batch of episodes when they were first announced, but it's unclear whether that's still the case given scheduled changes and the like.

Snowpiercer is a TV series adaptation of both the 2013 South Korean-Czech film of the same name, directed by Bong Joon-ho, and the French graphic novel Le Transperceneige by Jacques Lob, Benjamin Legrand, and Jean-Marc Rochette. The cast of the show is led by Jennifer Connelly, Daveed Diggs, and Sean Bean.

As always, keep your eyes on SFFGazette.com for the latest Snowpiercer updates.

Never watched the tv series but I love the movie. I’m content with the film as a stand-alone because it told a complete story for me.
The series has an impressive cast but it’s not enough for me to invest.

The movie was pretty good, though overrated by most on this site.

I haven't watched the show. Does it break any new ground the movie didn't cover? I'm a little tired of the rich people are bad, evil, and in charge while the poor people are good, heroic, and ride in the back of the bus.(oops - train)

Does the show give more ideas and material than just that?

@DocSpock - No but that's because that's the main theme of the story. It's like saying I want to watch Harry Potter but I'm sick of all the magic lol!
