NYTimes.com recently did a 3 page article on Kevin Tanchaoen's new web-series 'Mortal Kombat: Legacy' and in the article they gave us our first full look at the demon Baraka. Previously all we'd seen of him was a short of his arms.

Written by Kevin Tancharoen , Aaron Helbing and Todd Helbing, “Mortal Kombat: Legacy” is an anthology of nine live action shorts, and brings to life the motivation behind each character’s participation in the Mortal Kombat tournament. Each episode will provide never-before-revealed insights into characters featured in the upcoming videogame as well as the game’s universe.




The next episode of 'Mortal Kombat: Legacy' airs on YouTube this coming Tuesday.

I think its funny that XMO: Wolverine's Deadpool has been the closest to what Baraka should look like.

The first episode was such a disappointment.

I mean, the so called trailer it all began with was fun and fresh, but when you get it as a series, you just see how unduly derailed it is from the real MK.

Enough with the Nolan approach already. Some things just don't need it- like MK, which is known for its out-of-this world look and feel.

And yeah, costume does suck.

It looks better than the "troll" from trailer but something there still just doesnt seem quite right to me.....Not horrible but awkward IMO.

Wow this looks like a blend between Freddy Kreuger and the Orc's from Jackson's Lord of the Rings. Remember the one that picks up Frodo after his fight with the Spider.

jeez they said from day one MK Rebirth has nothing to do with the webseries. this webseries is going to based on the MK game universe.

@SotoJuiceMan. I agree with you, it's different and I like that. I did prefer the real world based one but this one works as well, and is still closer to the games. Maybe they'll actually do something with the character. And giving him a distinct look takes away from the "His whole race looks the same" issue.

Why the hell aren't they doing what they did with the first short vid they produced where he was a surgeon? That was way cooler. This really detracts from the appeal of this series in my opinion.

first of the surgeon thing was not Baraka from the MK universe thats a insult to the source material of the character from the game. also they said over and over again this has nothing to do with MK rebirth.
