Several hours ago, we learned that Ludi Lin (
Black Mirror,
Aquaman) was in talks to join the live-action
Mortal Kombat film, and now a new report has confirmed his role as Liu Kang. However, that may not be the most exciting part of the report, as a few other casting decisions were also revealed.
According to
The Hollywood Reporter, Lin will be joined by
Supergirl actor Mehcad Brooks, Sisi Stringer and
Thor: Ragnarok star Tadanobu Asano, who will be tackling the roles of Jax, Mileena and Raiden respectively.
While plot details on the New Line film remain under wraps, the video game adaptation is expected to begin filming later this year with Simon McQuoid in the director’s chair.
Mortal Kombat, which is based on the popular video game franchise of the same name, is currently scheduled to hit theaters on March 5, 2021 and will also star Joe Taslim (
The Raid) as Sub Zero
