MORTAL KOMBAT: Sub-Zero Actor Joe Taslim Teases Noob Saibot For Possible Sequel - SPOILERS

Joe Taslim's (The Raid, The Night Comes For Us) take on icy assassin Sub-Zero was an undeniable highlight of Mortal Kombat, and even though his character met his end at the hands (well, flaming skull breath) of Scorpion in the movie's climactic battle, there's a very good chance Taslim will return if Warner Bros. decides to move ahead with a sequel.

As any fan of the long-running video game series will be aware, Bi-Han was resurrected as shadowy ninja Noob Saibot by Quan Chi after being killed-off in the first game, and there's a definite hint that Shang Tsung has similar plans for the character at the end of this adaptation.

During an interview with THR, Taslim was asked about the possibility of suiting-up as Saibot for Mortal Kombat II.

"Yes, that's the next transformation of the character, but of course, we don't know yet. If the fans want this franchise to continue, then there's a strong chance that the next step for Bi-Han is to play Noob Saibot. Fingers crossed, but I hope it happens because I definitely want to play that character. But to be honest, the most interesting path, in my opinion, is to do a prequel. It would be a story about Bi-Han and his training in the Lin Kuei. When he got abducted by the Lin Kuei, his parents were killed. So it would be the process of him and his brother becoming assassins, and I think that's quite interesting as well."

In the games, Bi-Han's more honourable brother Kuai Liang takes up the mantle of Sub-Zero, so even if we don't get a full prequel film, there's a strong possibility that Taslim will get his wish for an origin story via flashbacks.

Mortal Kombat proved to be divisive with critics, but fans seemed to be pretty happy with the R-rated action flick, and it's currently performing very well at the global box office.

Would you like to see Taslim return as Noob Saibot for an MK sequel?

@TheFireForce - I'm by far not happy with the film but I enjoyed a few parts of it and think if they play their cards right a sequel could be the MK film we deserve

The film was pretty disappointing in some ways. Man, those exposition dumps were absolutely massive. Having said that, Sub-Zero was still awesome imo and the prospect of a prequel around him is far more interesting to me than a sequel.

This movie should’ve been called “Before Mortal Kombat” because for a movie called Mortal Kombat, that even opens explaining what the Mortal Kombat tournament is, there is no actual Mortal Kombat tournament in this movie. The whole movie is about the bad guys trying to take out earthrealm’s champions before the tournament begins. Main characters even die and they die not having fought in the tournament.

I had decent expectations for this movie because the director sounded like he knew his stuff regarding the history and lore of the game. What we got though was a Mortal Kombat movie in name only.
