Mortal Kombat is back and it's bloodier than ever. The iconic fighting franchise has never been one to shy away from the brutal nature at its core, but in revealing Mortal Kombat 11, NetherRealm took it to a whole other level.

It all started with creative director Ed Boon taking the stage to present the Best Sports/Racing Game award. Trolling the audience, Boon instead gave us a look at the Mortal Kombat 11 announcement teaser. Set to the original track "Immortal" by 21 Savage, the teaser features an intense and bloody fight between fan-favorite characters Raiden and Scorpion.

Mortal Kombat 11 community reveal event is planned for January 17 at which point we should get a proper reveal of the game. But NetherRealm did tease the new Custom Character Variations which "give you unprecedented control to customize the fighters and make them your own."

In terms of the roster, we already see that Raiden and Scorpion will feature, but we can also expect the return of many other Klassic Fighters along with some newcomers.

Mortal Kombat 11 is set for a global launch on April 23.

@sharkman03191 - that's probably a strong bet. I would love to see a funny character like Duke Nuke'em

Absolutely love this franchise. Looking forward to the story mode trailer that will release at some point. Also love how they handle their business. None of this the game will be out in 45 years nonsense. Here is a trailer and by the way it will be with you in 4 months. That is proper way to build hype.

I usually dont mind hip hop / rap in trailers. MKX's was great. This, however, does not go with it at all.
