UNCHARTED Loses Director Dan Trachtenberg; PlayStation Productions Boards The Project

Following a few other director exits, it seemed as if Dan Trachtenberg was in for the long haul, but now the 10 Cloverfield Lane helmer has also decided to depart Sony Picture's live-action Uncharted film.

Thanks to the collapse of their deal with Marvel Studios, this week has already been rough on Sony Pictures, and now another one of the studio's films has hit a major speed bump - and this one also involves current Spider-Man actor Tom Holland.

According to a new report from Deadline, 10 Cloverfield Lane director Dan Trachtenberg has exited the live-action Uncharted film. And, as expected, the studio is hoping to find a replacement as quickly as possible since they still aim to begin production early next year.

However, while one major player may be leaving the project, PlayStation Productions will reportedly now be involved in the film’s development, making the video game adaptation its first feature production.

The live-action Uncharted movie, which previously lost directors Shawn Levy and Seth Gordon, is currently scheduled to hit theaters on December 18, 2020.

I'm beginning to think this one won't ever be made.

It was in development hell for years with Mark Wahlberg attached as the lead.

If this director can leave uncharted then maybe the main star should leave too, get some leverage on another project he's working on...wink wink...

@Mrcool210 - I would love a reboot/remake of Gremlins with Tom Holland as the lead.

If they don’t start shooting until next year then how could they possibly hit that release date.

With this and Cruella being pushed back maybe just maybe Dune can actually be a big hit.

I rather see them completely start over, with Nathan Fillion as the lead

Sony, at this point, just turn the fan film with Nathan Fillion and Stephen Lang into a full-blown internet series to get it over with since people liked it and you seem to keep having trouble trying to get this property onto the big screen.

If making Uncharted and Tomb Raider films stops the film industry from recasting Indiana Jones, go for it. But this film is probably pointless as we already know the story of Nathan Drake.

This won't make December 2020. Cruella just moved out of December 2020. Everyone's running away from DUNE babyyyyy

@WakandanQueen - Dune literally has all of December to itself now... Villeneuve about to have his first BLOCKBUSTER

@Nightwing1015 Nah, I don’t even have a PlayStation and I don’t think I play near enough video games to really justify buying another system.

The only reason Nathan Drake is young in this is because Tom Rothman really wanted Tom Holland to star in it after seeing Homecoming, lol

Tom hasn’t had many W’s outside of Spider-Man...

That one movie with Cumberbatch and Michael Shannon was delayed for years after the Weinstein. His next movie from Doug Liman has under extensive reshoots.

Hoping he nabs some decent movie roles soon. Think he’s a talented dude.
