UNCHARTED Movie Hit By A Six-Week Delay As Pre-Production Is Halted Due To Coronavirus

Variety confirms that Sony has halted pre-production on Uncharted, and work will not resume working on the long-delayed video game movie for six weeks. The plan was for the film to start shooting in Berlin next month, but with the Coronavirus pandemic spreading across the globe, studio execs reportedly decided to delay filming indefinitely.

The trade notes that it's unknown when shooting will now start, and adds that there's some uncertainty surrounding whether Uncharted will still hit that planned March 5th, 2021 release date.

Art Marcum and Matt Holloway wrote the most recent draft of the screenplay, and Venom's Ruben Fleischer recently signed up to direct the movie. Tom Holland is set to play a younger version of Nathan Drake, while he's going to be joined by an impressive supporting cast including Mark Wahlberg, Antonio Banderas, Tati Gabrielle, and Sophia Ali.

At this point, production on pretty much every major upcoming release has been halted as studios like Disney, Warner Bros., and Netflix have all announced similar postponements and delays.

With no way of knowing what's going to happen with this pandemic, it's feasible that many 2020 films will start being pushed into 2021, while those already scheduled for that year will be pushed even further back. There's just a lot of uncertainty surrounding what comes next.

We'll be sure to keep you guys updated on Uncharted as we learn more!

OT

Best time to release Black Widow would be August 7 2020(no competition)
and then release F&TWS August 28 2020

Followed by Eternals in November and WandaVision in Dec

Marvel can own the last qty of 2020

Waiting a few more months for Phase 4 to start shouldn't be so bad

Tom Holland just can’t catch a break unless it’s Marvel related.
