UNCHARTED Movie Lands ZERO DARK THIRTY Scribe; Chris Pratt Passes On Lead Role

Sony's Uncharted has been in limbo for quite some time now, but a new writer has been found! Meanwhile, Guardians of the Galaxy star Chris Pratt has apparently declined an offer to play Nathan Drake...

According to The Hollywood Reporter, work is finally moving ahead on Sony's big screen adaptation of the Uncharted video game franchise as Academy Award winning screenwriter Mark Boal has been enlisted to work on the screenplay. Seth Gordon is still atached to direct. This is a departure for Boal who is best known for movies like The Hurt Locker and Zero Dark Thirty, but the site reveals that he is, "said to be a fan of the popular video game, which is being envisioned as a swashbuckling adventure in the vein of Indiana Jones." This should come as good news to fans of the franchise, especially as the movie has so far gone through a number of iterations. David O. Russell penned a draft he would have directed, but the unfaithful take on the popular property never went anywhere. At that time, Mark Wahlberg was attached to star, and the site reveals that Guardians of the Galaxy's Chris Pratt was recently offered the role of Nathan Drake. Unfortunately, he declined. Other writers who have worked on Uncharted include Thomas Dean Donnelly, Joshua Oppenheimer, David Guggenheim and Cormac and Marianne Wibberley. Thoughts?

I don't know, is Chris Pratt really a suitable choice for Nathan Drake? I wouldn't mind if he had gotten the part, but I'm not overly upset that he didn't.

Finally 2016 will be the rise of video games movies starting with Warcraft and Uncharted. They have Mark Boal writing the script, so this movies is guarantee to at least not be bad.

Great Writer, but Seth Gordon is still directing, which isn't a good thing.

I liked King of Kong though

Sony should do a Playstation conematic universe. Get Ratchet & Clank and Kratos next to Drake in one movie.

On second thought Gordon has about the same track record the Russos did before making TWS, which was fantastic.

Maybe he'll pull it off...

Now if we could just get a god damn Halo movie....

I'm kinda glad he passed on it. It'd basically be star lord meets Indiana Jones. Would've trapped him in a a specific role which wouldn't be good for his career. He's already the Drake of space as Star Lord

I understand why he declined it why? Sony is on some crap right now movie wise. Gaming wise is a different ballgame but with sony its like they are lucky if they do good or they are horrendous if this movie bombs. Movie games do not go so well live action

Chris Pratt would've been great, but there's other actors out there who could do just as good of a job or better.

@Fosho1 Harrison Ford was Indiana Jones and Han Solo at one point, so if Chris Pratt was Star lord and Nathan Drake he would still be cool.

@MisterBatfleck *Saves to camera roll. Have any of the other incarnations depicted them watching Mask of Zoro? I know Batman Begins didn't .

Damn, too bad about Pratt, but I think Ryan Reynolds would be pretty perfect as Drake

@Sipprelle

I don't think so, the 1989 had a movie theater but I don't think the movie was Zorro, so this is the first that got it right I guess.
