WONDER WOMAN Director Patty Jenkins Reportedly Walked Away From Threequel; Gal Gadot Could Stay On As Diana

A new report indicates that Patty Jenkins was the one who walked away from Wonder Woman 3 after the studio "gave notes" on her treatment. Is there a chance Gal Gadot could stay on in the role?

Following last night's press-stopping report on the current and future state of the DCU, Tinseltown is said to be in "chaos" mode, with an apparent lack of communication to talent reps and content creators by the studio resulting in a lot of concern.

“This is creating a riot,” says one Deadline source. “And it’s a horrible optic. This business is based on relationships.”

Things are sure to settle down once James Gunn and Peter Safran unveil their plans (a meeting with Warner Bros. Discovery boss David Zaslav is reportedly set for next week), but for now, we are all left to wonder what lies in store for the likes of Henry Cavill, Gal Gadot, Jason Momoa and rest of the "Snyderverse" era actors.

We had been led to believe that Wonder Woman 3 was dead in the water, and while that might well be the case, it sounds like Gadot could stay on as Diana without director Patty Jenkins (this would explain the actress' recent Tweet, anyway).

Apparently, it was actually Jenkins who decided to walk away after "receiving notes on the treatment she submitted to the studio." It seems WB higher-ups weren't completely sold on her pitch, which was said to contain "character arc problems which rivaled that of Wonder Woman 1984."

"Michael De Luca and Pam Abdy had concerns about the treatment before Safran and Gunn weighed in," claims Deadline. "The group provided notes. Jenkins fought back and defended her vision that the threequel’s character arcs were solid. Jenkins was given the opportunity for another pass, but opted to walk."

If accurate, this would seem to suggest that the studio was willing to move forward with a third Wonder Woman movie before Jenkins bailed, so there is a chance Gadot will be given the opportunity to reprise her role at some point.

UPDATE: The Wrap has now weighed in with a few more details, and it sounds like Jenkins was not very happy about the situation... to say the least!

According to their report, the filmmaker had no hesitation in letting WBD brass “know that they were wrong, that they didn’t understand her, didn’t understand the character, didn’t understand character arcs and didn’t understand what Jenkins was trying to do.” It's also claimed that Jenkins had no interest in listening to Gunn and Safran's ideas.

“She just doesn’t want to allow them to have a seat at the table [or] to have an opinion on something new that she might come up with,” said the site's source.

@TheSuperMex - Yeah, the wife and I usually only do fast food on the weekends to take it easy from having to cook, and when we do we just cruise the food apps for whatever is on sale. Where I live I have literally EVERYTHING within 5-10 minutes, so it's just a matter of who has the deals. Also, my wife got some good deals recently on gift cards for Jersey Mike's, Firehouse, and Raising Cane's (and some other ones I can't remember), so we have those as well. Doesn't seem like WB is doing any promos for this week (at least according to their app). Oh well. Next time 😊.

Champagne Enema with explosive results. These guys know good. Cavil is good. Gal is good. Mamoa is good. Jenkins? Not so much. WW2 was virtually unwatchable. She squandered a great origin story on drivel.

Prepare for more frothy goodness.

@Goldboink - Well, I mean, you've gotta weight your pros and cons there. Is there (ahem) any... reason why you wouldn't put up with some... less than perfect... sanitary behaviors from a woman who would let you (redacted redacted redacted redacted redacted redacted redacted) especially if you can (redacted redacted redacted redacted redacted) and then (redacted redacted redacted) on her (redacted redacted redacted) is all I'm saying. And I'm not saying from personal experience, per se, but let's just say that I had a friend who dated this girl who (redacted redacted redacted redacted) BUT she was totally into (redacted redacted redacted redacted) with a spatula and a toilet plunger, so that made it all worth it. Or so he told me. So, ya know, your mileage may vary.

@StSteven - I think that you (paragraph redacted)

That’s why you shouldn’t be allowed near pillowcases or cats anymore… ‘a friend’ yeah, likely story. Next you’ll be trying to explain away the (redacted). I swear you should have your internets taken away, pervert.
StSteven
StSteven - 12/9/2022, 5:45 PM
@Deklipz - Well ha ha ha on you! The local courts have already restricted my access to pillowcases AND cats (along with spatulas, toilet plungers, and peanut butter - but that's a story for another time). So there! And it IS a friend, not me. His name is... uh... SchmaintSchmeven. True story.

And as for your pervert claims, look it's mot MY fault. I don't usually disclose this, but I was molested by a cardboard cut-out of James Gunn as a child. Well, it was a cut-out of Gunn holding a spatula in one hand and a toilet plunger in the other. And he used those on me to (redacted) (redacted) (redacted) and then stuck his (redacted) (redacted) into a jar of peanut butter with which he (redacted) (redacted) (redacted) (redacted) which ended up all over the ceiling fan which then sent (redacted) (redacted) all over the place, and THEN he made me (redacted) (redacted) (redacted) (redacted) and (redacted) (redacted) until I couldn't (redacted) (redacted) (redacted) any more.

So with all that in mind, I'm sure you can understand where I'm "coming" from.

For the best. I’m forever grateful for the first movie, but I feel like one more fumble with Wonder Woman and people will lose interest with the character which would be a tragedy in my opinion.

LOVED Wonder Woman 2017

but Wonder Woman 1984 really dipped in quality and the story just didn't have that same emotional impact as the first one.

The writing and pacing really killed that film. Diana sailing the winds, having the eagle armor and even Cheeta's final form were great take aways for me but everything else fell flat.

That's for the best. As for Gal possibly staying on as Diana, I don't have an issue, but I wouldn't be disappointed if she was recast. If I'm being honest, they could do better.

I met Gadot and Jenkins once here in Brazil, on the press tour for WW84. Despite the movie´s quality, they both was very kind to me and optimistic about the movie...!

It's business! And if WB was really interested in relationships then they would've cancelled multiple projects.💁

Time to face the truth. DC has been in the gutter for years. I'm glad people are starting to see. For years we were called Disney shills. For years we were called marvel fanboys.🤡

For years we had delusional people making excuses for awful films and flop boxoffice numbers

Gunn is holding up the mirror and showing y'all what time it is. Alot of angry people are looking at their reflection for the first time and realizing they liked shit💁

The best medicine to cure the Dcu brand right now is a healthy dose of REALITY 🔥

"This business is based on relationships.”

Yes, it is. Gunn and Safran have relationships with actual talented people and there is a long line of quality writers, actors and directors who would love a shot at making these movies. No need to coddle the meat animals that fall behind the pack. They will be lion food soon enough.

Huge mistakes Gunn is already making if this is true. Gadot and Wonder Woman have always been one of the only things that the DCEU got right. Throwing that away now too for no reason.

You will notice all of these articles use the words "may, might, could" etc. The highest likelihood is that the actors stay and the writers, directors and ball shavers are shown the door. It seems like they gave Jenkins to respond to what they were looking for and she dug in her heels so, yea, see ya.

Good thing her Rogue Squadron movie was scrapped. She got lucky with the first film (which still had big issues).

And The Flash needs to be the end of the DCEU. New U, new actors. Gal wasnt a spectacular cast anyways for the role, I'm sure they can get someone better.
