HARRY POTTER Star Daniel Radcliffe Once Again Addresses WOLVERINE Casting Rumors

It's a little hard to believe that people are still asking him about this, but Harry Potter star Daniel Radcliffe has once again addressed the rumor that he could be set to play Wolverine in The MCU.

Though Daniel Radcliffe has never actually been rumored to be up for the role of Wolverine in Marvel Studios' planned X-Men reboot (the notion seems to have stemmed from a fan-cast that took on a life of its own), a lot of fans do appear to be on board with the idea, and the Harry Potter actor is still being asked about the possibility of suiting-up as Logan in interviews.

While speaking to GQ Magazine, Radcliffe made it very clear that there's never been any truth to the reports - although he does admit that his responses to those initial Wolvie questions may have fuelled the fire to some extent.

"It's purely a press tour rumor; I say something, and then occasionally I get bored of answering that way so I say something different, and that sets it off again. I should just never open my mouth," Radcliffe observed. "I just don't ever want to get locked into something that I am not sure I will be able to love the same amount the whole time."

So, even if the opportunity were to present itself, it really doesn't sound like Radcliffe has much interest in taking over from Hugh Jackman as the fan-favorite mutant.

This speculation could all be moot, anyway, because Jackman hasn't actually hung up the claws just yet! Despite "retiring" as the lethal X-Man after James Mangold's Logan, the actor is set to reprise the role for Deadpool 3, which could well lead to him staying on as the Marvel Cinematic Universe's Wolverine in future movies.

What do you guys think? Would Radcliffe be your pick to play Wolverine in the MCU? If not, which actor would you choose? Drop us a comment down below.

I love him, but he would be terrible as Logan.

@BringFFtoMCU - agreed. Daniel Radcliffe is a treasure, and I say this as a fan of him strictly from his post Potter work, I've seen all the Potter films and they just don't appeal to me.

Anyways, I greatly enjoy everything he has done since, and I wish him all the best in the world. But I would hate him as Wolverine. Radcliffe even doing a "deep voice" sounds like a teenager. Same reason Michael J Fox wouldn't be cast as Punisher, just not the right casting.

@BringFFtoMCU - I don't know if he would be terrible or not. I've learned enough from Ledger and Pattinson's castings in Batman movies to not make that judgement too early.

But I will say that no matter how hard I try I just can't see this guy as Logan. Maybe he could surprise us?

If only we could be so lucky but marvel is wasting time by shoving the faulty Jackman version down our throats again

If he can get in GREAT shape and work on his voice, then he might be a great choice.

@Blastaar - He is in great shape, he is just a very small man. I dont think he'd be a good choice.

@Shivermetimbers - Well he'd have to obviously put on weight. I think in the face as long as he's scruffy he'd have the look.

I never really saw him as the character. He just doesn't have that kind of face to me. But hey I've been proven wrong before.

@Fares - the problem though is this isn't even what the actual film makers want. It's just fans. And they just see him as being the right height.

@Origame - It may just be me, but I never really got the height thing.
I never really found it to be a prime Wolverine characteristic. Granted, I got introduced to the character via the movies, so not all people will feel the same as me.

But even that aside, people must realize that height does not come across through the camera unless the filmmakers intentionally make an effort to make it obvious.

Does Tom Cruise ever look shorter than 180cm (5.9ft) in the movies? No, because they make sure that he doesn't look that way when they frame their shots.

And supposedly, Wolverine is 160cm (5.3ft) in canon. So if they choose to stick to canon in this particular aspect for some reason, that's not really that short. He doesn't typically have any dwarvish anatomical proportions either, so if they don't frame their shots to make him look short, you'd barely notice it if the actor was at that height.

The point is, the actor's height should have nothing to do with the casting. If they want to make him look short, they can do so regardless of how tall the actor is.

What? You think they got an actual small guy to play Gimli in Lord of the Rings. He's played by John Rhys-Davies, who's 185cm (6 ft) tall!

Anyway, sorry for the long rant.

@Fares - honestly I kinda get the height thing since wolverine is supposed to break a lot of the tropes of the handsome superhero. My thing however is height is something that can and has been played with based on proportions. Remember, rdj is significantly shorter than Gwyneth Paltrow but that doesn't come across in the movies. So making that the main reason to choose an actor is ridiculous.

I doubt Radcliffe will want to commit to the type of contract the Wolverine role will require. I doubt they go for a big name for it. It’ll be an unknown or an up and comer. They don’t want to give a big contract right away.

I never really wanted Radcliffe as Logan anyways. Don't get me wrong, he's a literal icon but my biggest fancasting for him was always Mark Webber (Stephen Stills from Scott Pilgrim). He's had experience playing a Canadian, he looks good in flannels, he looks rugged as hell, he's got the charm combined with the pent-up rage, he's all around perfect.

He was a tortured soul during Harry Potter so I'm sure he would be hesitant to join a big franchise now.
