BOX OFFICE: The Final LOGAN Opening Weekend Tally Is Almost A Quarter-Billion

The final outing for Hugh Jackman as the fan favorite X-Men berserker has exceeded early estimates with the film currently sitting at $247.3 million worldwide. Did you predict Logan would do THIS well?

Logan's opening weekend numbers have been finalized and the last cinematic outing for Hugh Jackman as 'the' Wolverine has earned $88.3 million domestically on its way to a worldwide gross of $247.3 million. Given this staggering windfall, do you think Fox would be willing to throw Robert Downey Jr. numbers at Jackman to get him to return for cameos and supporting roles?  With the next X-Men movie set to begin filming in June, they've got a little over 3 months to try and change Academy Award Nominee's mind.

What did you think of Logan and did you think it would gross such an impressive figure in its opening weekend?  What do you think the final box office tally will be? Let us know in the comment section below.

ABOUT LOGAN
Logan was released in North American theaters on March 3, 2017. The film is directed and written by James Mangold, who returns after directing 2013's The Wolverine. The film will reportedly mark Hugh Jackman's last outing as the titular hero after having played the character for 17 years, beginning with 2000's X-Men. Patrick Stewart will reprise his role as Professor X. He'll be joined by Dafne Keen as Laura (rumored to be X-23), Stephen Merchant as Caliban, Boyd Holbrook as Donald Pierce (leader of The Reavers) and Richard E. Grant as Zander Rice (head of the Transigen project).

Logan is loosely based on the Old Man Logan miniseries from comic book author Mark Millar and artist Steve McNiven.  The plot find Logan and Professor X on the run, years after the epilogue of X-Men: Days Of Future Past in the year 2024.  For undisclosed reasons, the world has transformed into an unrecognizable landscape where mutants are nearly extinct.  Professor X and Wolverine are protecting the young Laura who somehow holds the key to a better future.

OFFICIAL SYNOPSIS:  In the near future, a weary Logan cares for an ailing Professor X in a hide out on the Mexican border. But Logan's attempts to hide from the world and his legacy are up-ended when a young mutant arrives, being pursued by dark forces.

@MiKi - Deserves all the pennies.

I only wish FOX took the leash off the creative team behind the Wolverine films a lot earlier and not at the end of Jackman's run but at least he went out on a very high note.

great numbers but the competition this month is insane. Kong will be the new No.1 this week & beauty the other week as well

@HugoStiglitz - I honestly think Kong will come up short, Beauty however will dominate

@stephhurry - If Beauty gets banned if in some countries for the gay stuff it won't dominate. Russian leaders want to ban it, and if Russia does, China can't be far behind. China's market loss will take a big chunk outta the box office returns.

@HugoStiglitz - yep, it likely won't be number one at the box office weekend again, but it'll rake in the cash. It'll likely hit at least $500m WW by the time it's done, which is amazing for a $97m investment on an R rated movie. Even more important are the non-tangibles like giving the X-men franchise further interest in future movies.

@HugoStiglitz - Sadly I don't think Kong will win the weekend domestically but overseas will be a whole different ball game.

Nah.
Get a new actor. Maybe do a soft reboot of the who universe, say keeping the ones from the new series and don't bother getting into why they are so young.

@Mankzin2 - Nah, dont want another 1st class reboot. Just continue with the current xmen and universe. Dont want a shitty reboot just to please fans who want costumes and fun. Wolverine should stay retired, till the universe can learn to move forward without him.
